FWIW, i absolutely don't hate the idea of letting him take the full length of his KHL contract to grow and improve away from this team. My only issue, again, is the fact that the more time he spends in Russia, the more likely it is that some political bullshit happens to keep him from ever coming over.

The injury stuff is a valid shout too. I'm not that worried, I have faith.

He apparently always wanted to be a Flyer! Rubstov and Provorov told him good things about playing in Philly. Who could have believed it!

Is that true? You have a link? Omg lol

Yes, he said that he had spoken to Ruby and Provy and they both said good things about playing in Philly. I can't remember exactly where, but it was in one of the videos of his presser. Not sure if it was the one the Flyers posted or the one I posted from a blogger that seemed like a continuation.

Question starts at 8:26. More specifically, he says he knows the Flyers were good with Rubtsov and Provorov which tells him that we know how to work with Russian players.

Maybe it means nothing, but he played with Vorobyov last year. I wonder what he heard about the Flyers from him, if anything.

As pumped as I am to have Michkov , I am so discouraged by what we actually have in terms of assets as an organization and even more discouraged about the possibility of maximizing this player's ability to be apart of a championship core.

Right now in terms of prospects its basically Gauthier , Michkov, Foerster, and a few other ok pieces. We are really going to need to find a top line center asap for these kids and I have no clue how we do that other than by getting lucky A F.

As much as I would love to maximize the value o our assets in trades, we can't even allow some of our more impactful players to play a shift this year for us because they will hurt our draft stock. We need to trade, hart, konecky, sanheim, coots, farabee this year just to make sure we bottom out this next season while we have our two best prospects not burning up years on the elc. Next season we need to be competing with the sharks and anaheim to be the worst team in the league. ANd they are miles ahead of us in the tank.

Hopefully Danny understand this and tries to bottom out.

Well lets hope Gauthier grows as a C.

Agree on the rest, really need to get some young blossoming players along with future picks. Tippett esque players when we trade the farm.

Also I assume we'll be picking top 5 the next two years. After that top 10 as well probably, from there - we go, hopefully.

top 5 isn't going to cut it. Look at the hawks, pens, lightning. You need those top 3 picks and eventually a top 1 pick.

We just got an essential #1 overall pick last night. Here's hoping that he can compensate for if we never get a true game-breaking 1C during the rebuild.

Michkov seems way more creative than Caufield. He's also bigger than Caufield.

Also, serious question, if this guy is supposedly the 2nd best offensive talent behind Bedard, why are we only pegging this guy at 80 points? Especially in the current NHL, that saying he's only Kyle Conner, Hischier, Tuch, Larkin, Skinner, etc (in 80+ games). While if we're talking about the ability to generate points and goals, it would feel more like a Pettersson, Kaprizov, Hughes, at the minimum. Personally, with how the scoring is in the NHL right now, he could easily be a 100+ points per season kind of guy. That's my hot take on this.
That was my thinking when I heard Scott Wheeler say 80-100, but he was probably being conservative, especially because he was on Montreal radio with an audience who are generally feeling pretty down about not drafting him.

You guys got an amazing prospect - and I wish the Habs picked him over Reinbacher - but he is not McDavid or Bedard. Even Eichel was a better or comparable 'prospect' and is an AMAZING player but he is not a 100p guy still.
No Eichel was not close to Michkov as a prospect. Eichel was great. I know when I watched Eichel as a prospect the gap between him and McDavid was apparent. Eichel was a Fantilli level prospect. Great player...not a prodigy though. Solid number 1 in numerous other draft years. Fantilli has more skill than Eichel. Eichel had a more impressive IQ than fantilli.

Michkov absolutely is a +100 point player. I would put heavy money on multiple rockets in Michkovs future. I would also figure he and Bedard rotate who gets the selfish hardware. Their talent is incredibly rare.

This draft in particular was unique because for the first time ever 2 prodigy players were in the same draft class. Michkov and Bedard. Saying Michkov is/was not a prodigy is kind of impossible. You are labeled a prodigy as a child. You either live up to it or you don't. For all intents and purposes Michkov has lived up to it.

Saying Bedard is in a different tier is also a pretty hard point to prove. I would be interested in what you think separates them so much? I see top line speed for Bedard, but michkov I would actually give a W in the IQ column. Like the way he extends plays in the KHL is truly fascinating to see. He almost finds a passing when even spectators don't think there is one. What do you think separates them so much outside of that?

They were both child prodigies. They both produced at a clip that lived up to the label as they moved up levels. They have a wildly similar builds physically. They both make complex skills look easy. Both are truly freaks.

I agree, but I'd keep Farabee. He's still young enough to build around him and I think there's still untapped potential.

Guessing it was before pride night when Provorov spoke to him about Philly...

My advice to the Flyers: keep tanking. Get someone like Demidov next year.

I'll be watching most of his games in the KHL this year so I might be posting a bit on your prospect board. By extension, I'll likely be following Philly a lot when he comes to the NHL. Can't believe he lasted until your pick; there are so many cowardly organizations in the league that passed on a future superstar. Congrats again Philly.
