The prices that selling GMs are asking for right now make eggs seem cheap.

18% retention would still put him at 9.5 million in cap hit for 4.5 more years. That's a lot of money for a guy who will be 37 at the end of that contract. Not to mention the only teams that could afford that kind of cap without the Sharks taking a massive cap dump back are non-playoff teams who aren't giving up 3 high 1sts. Think Grier might be partaking in something that's legal in Cali.

Well pettersson apparently wants out if true we should be in on this
Absolutely. Buffalo is one of the few team who can move prospect depth and survive.
What do you think the ask is?
I’d peg it at around what Eichel cost.
It's tough because there isn't really a comparison. I guess the Jack or Karlsson would be similar trades.

Maybe something like

Matthew Savoie
Casey Mittelstadt
Henri Jokiharju
2023 1st
2024 2nd (conditions to become 1st)
My outline for Pettersson is:

1st round pick 2023
Best prospect in the organization
Contributing roster player
1st-2nd 2024
It sure is, good thing Elias Pettersson isn't a middle 6 center.
Yeah, having him and Thompson together would make the Sabres pretty unreal.

I think they need defenceman more.

And that doesn't even account for the NMC that Karlsson has. He can choose his destination if he wants.

I'm a huge karlsson fan. but he needs to be the guy. with dahlin and power i don't think he would do as good on the sabres rather than a team like Calgary/ Seattle / Philly / Isles / winnipeg/Montreal where he can be that #1D

he can't be 2nd fiddle. he needs to have the offence run through him which is why he's playing amazing since burns got traded. you put him on a team like seattle and you with great goaltending you have a 2017 sens run 2.0

Wouldn't mind seeing a concentrated secondary scoring line of Mitts-Cozens-Olofsson at some point if the kids don't get going again soon.

Gives you two scoring lines and a shut-down line (Girgs, Okposo centered by whoever) plus a hodge podge line that may or may not work, but who cares as long as the other three do.

Yeah. I think a few insanely bad trades for Dmen the past few years has completely borked the market.

Risto went for a 1st and 2nd. Seth Jones 1st #6, 1st #12, 2nd #44. Chiarot 1st, 4th, prospect.

So every dman worth a damn is obviously worth the Risto/Jones/Chiarot deal plus another 1st. Am I right?

A market correction is badly needed.

I think middle 6 scoring wingers are also due for a market correction, they're significantly undervalued. See - Reinhart, Buchnevich, etc.

If you want to talk defensemen deals -- just look at the dichotomy in value between deadline deals and offseason deals.

Defensemen just cost so much more in-season. It's ridiculous.

Rachel Hopmayer thinks the move means UPL doesn't play Monday, probably Tuesday. Does she have any inside Intel? Doesn't make sense to sit him Monday when they play sh*ty Chicago Tuesday

He won’t. I imagine for now, they’ll alternate all 3 until Comrie fully gets up to speed, then it’ll move to a 2/2/1 split (barring illness or injuries).

She does grunt work for the News as reporter vs. Harrington who is I think still listed as "columnist".
