I don't think the organization has "soured" on Pysyk so much as seeing him as one of the only assets between "utter garbage" and "completely immovable core piece."

But I have it on decent intel that Murray is a Pysyk fan, sooooo (though it could have meant the asset more than the player)...

Trying to piece together various fragments of information, perhaps Dallas and Buffalo are talking about a deal involving Pysyk? Buffalo has scouted the Texas Stars four times in the last month; could they be inquiring about Esa Lindell (LHD), a Finn, in an effort to get a LHD with big upside? Not sure why Dallas would do that, though, given that they have Klingberg and Honka as their RHD of the future - the present, in Klingberg's case - while they may lose Goligoski in UFA and Oduya is no spring chicken on the left side. It'd seem Lindell has more value to Dallas than Pysyk would.

Still, if Pysyk isn't living up to this organization's expectations, who is? Is this going to be another Sekera situation where Pysyk isn't appreciated because he's neither physical nor a point-scoring defenseman, he just gets the puck up ice and drives possession? Depending on the return, I'd seriously re-evaluate my position on Murray if he moves Pysyk.

Wonder if Pysyk would fit into Yzerman's criteria for Drouin? There would have to be at least one or two other significant pieces, but as a starting point...

Maybe, but I haven't heard much about the teams really scouting each other. That's not to say they haven't, but Tampa doesn't seem to be showing up much at our games.

They're looking for a RH shot D-man, but, I think Franson is probably a more likely fit.

If we move Pysyk, I'd say Edmonton would probably be very interested.

Is Wawrow credible at all? Or another unaccountable prediction guy?

I think he's a solid guy. Definitely more like Hoppe than the Buffalo News crew for me.

But, this sounds more like an educated guess than him hearing that the Sabres are shopping Pysyk.

He's probably hearing that Pysyk isn't an untouchable like a lot of us expected him to be.

I think Murray is smart enough that I only see him being traded for an equivalent or better LHD

Part of the issue in play here is that Pysyk looks to be 3rd pair Rd if he is unable to play LD.

Another target is Anaheim. As it looks now they have 4 LHDs ---Fowler, Depres (new contract kicks in next year), Lindhom, and Theodore. They want to keep Lindholm and promote Theodore (still on ELC next year). That would mean Fowler or Depres would be available.

I remember hearing on WGR, someone (don't remember who) mentioned that there were mixed feelings on Pysyk in the front office. Some like him, some don't.

(Kind of like McNabb)

So, someone like Lindell? He is highly thought of in Dallas.

Ducks fans have said that Fowler is worth more than what the Sabres are willing to give. I've never been totally sure whether that's them overvaluing or if it's the reality of the situation. I know GMTM is all about Fowler, though, so does Pysyk + Guhle + 2017 1st get us there?

Yes, although I'd throw up in my mouth a little if we made that deal.

Players like Pysyk who don't put up big hits or numbers are exactly what the team needs - solid players that can be locked into cheaper contracts because of numbers, just like I'd try to lock up Girgensons longer term if he will take it after a disappointing numbers year. There were good reasons to dislike McNabb (though I'd take him over Franson any day), but I'm all ears to hear a thought out argument as to why someone would dislike Pysyk other than not being the best 1st rounder you could ever get.

Care to qualify that statement? I've never seen Tim ever come out and say he liked Fowler (or even suggested elsewhere). We've been linked to him in rumor(s) previously, but that is mostly common sense (We need a LHD)

The ducks have ZERO reason to trade Fowler. He's signed reasonably, plays big minutes, and for all intents and purposes is their #1 d-man. Now, given their goal scoring issues and relative depth BEHIND Fowler (and Lindholm hitting RFA this summer), there are a few people who have postulated they move Folwer for offensive help.

What the more likely scenario is that the ducks go out and get offensive help using their draft picks/prospects now (with Despres/Lindholm/Theodore not being moved) and then recoup what they've given up by trading Folwer in the offseason (assuming they can get Lindholm signed to a long term deal)

Now, IF Ennis were healthy, a scenario that COULD come up is that we move Ennis for a package of picks ('16 1st + prospect) to Anaheim and then we simply return their 1st rounder + some larger pieces for Fowler. However, I can't see that happening given our state of our forwards ATM.

:dunno:

Lot's we don't see. I wouldn't be surprised if his agent requested a trade after being demoted to the AHL last year when the coach wanted him to stay in the NHL.

Any interest from you guys with Gologski/ Campbell?

I'd love Campbell on a two-year deal. He's been a great partner for Ekblad, and I think he'd do the same for Risto. More importantly, unlike Goligoski, he'd require far less term.

I think it's important for us to finish strong to show guys like Campbell that we're a viable team for guys who are in the dusk of their careers.

That would be a really good move. Gives us a bridge of sorts in that he can be a good partner for Risto and buys us time to find a longer term solution.

Didn't Stars fans absolutely despite Gogo before he became the weakest link in their top four that's generally been carried by its forwards?

Campbell on a 1-2 year deal would be a dream and a big indicator for our status as a franchise. Unless we're paying him 10 mil per.
