All the more reason to bring in a coach that can maximize a limited roster.

I was wrong. Initially thought it was that nagging LBI. It is becoming apparent that Pelech is not durable.

After reading the bullet points of Lou's presser this afternoon I have to say that I truly believe that he got suckered on Mat Barzal. He really thinks Barzal has more to give. We've been waiting 6 years for him to show it. Lou gets him Bo Horvat to play with and Horvat is on a 20 goal pace.

IT'S NOT IN THEM LOU!

You built a team that plays a man's game, is scrappy and has a lot of heart. Unfortunately your team is short on finishing ability, skating ability, puckhandling ability, and you hitched your wagon to the wrong guy.

If you are the isles, you MUST have him play games. You cannot him him just 7-10 minutes a night. This team needs defensemen to take the pressure off of Romanov, Dobson and Pulock.
Bolduc Problem is… his 7-10 minutes, there are no times where I see anything good. He has no urgency or pace to his game and looks like he’s playing scared all the time. He just doesn’t seem like he wants the puck. He’s actually has looked worse then his first days with club. Confidence is shot !

Kind of expected when he sits on the bench after he makes a mistake. The kid needs to be playing 20+ minutes a night in Bridgeport. The problem is he won’t pass through waivers.

Lou is a smart guy, he's not going to throw Barzal under the bus while he still has no trade protection.

That’s what Maurice said, didn’t have an issue with Reilly’s play
With how bad this defense has been the last couple of years, Reilly is going to feel like a Leddy-redux to the more sensitive crew like myself.

Casey take notes. Never go at the fans. Grandpa Lou even knows this lol

Lousing battle

Lou-ser!

Barzal and Horvat are both good players, but they aren’t the guys you build an offense around. Ideally they are your 3rd-4th best forwards who play 2nd line with some first line PP minutes that can also jump up to the top line when you have injuries. Instead they are forced to play in roles they shouldn’t because Lou has failed to find true top line forwards.

Lou has failed this team, they have no farm system, minimal top end talent, and no depth. Lou is a great figure head, but he shouldn’t be involved with roster decisions anymore.

Lou comments put Barzy in the bus lane with oncoming traffic.

If you think Lou's comments on the 1st line was designed to not tarnish Barzal's trade value, I disagree. Mat Barzal is not being traded. The Islanders went to great lengths to make Barzal the face of the franchise, including firing a HOF coach to placate Barzal and nothing can convince me otherwise, so everyone else on this board save your breath.

The notion that the Islanders might trade Barzal before his trade protection kicks in next year is ludicrous. He's here to stay.

Agree regarding Barzal and I’ll throw Sorokin and Dobson on that list.

I’ll add that the Isles won’t be making any major trades for the next 2 months. The only big splash I could see near the TDL would be trading Nelson and that would only be considered if they were clearly out of the playoff picture.

Woody would bring back a haul and frankly he’s the kind of player that could put a team over the top to win a Cup.

You’d have to think Nelson won’t be here in 2 years no matter how this shakes out. With that in mind, prudent asset management would dictate that the Isles make a deal for him not necessarily by this year’s TDL but by the following one at the latest. It would be great to hold onto him was long as we’re competitive but at some point Lou or his successor is gonna need to make a critical decision on his future.

We’re worrying about bottom 6 forward prospects who are 24 years old? LMAO

Durandeau is another too small for the NHL type. Thompson has actually some NHL games under his belt, if that makes anyone feel better.

I’m confident Lou did not let the next Carter Verhaeghe get away.
