Not sure how to make it work with the cap. Pure rental too.

Most likely won’t happen. But I wanted him in the passed. Think he’d be a good fit with Dobson. Probably would need to be a bigger trade with more moving parts. Because his UFA status coming up I don’t think we do it. Unless Lou loves him and signs him to an extension when dealing for him but I double that’s the case because he’s been available before.

Word is he wants to go to TOR. We’ll see

I mean, he’s pretty strongly hinting it here. I doubt he’d be putting stuff out here like this unless there was some smoke somewhere
I think these are just his opinions, as we have ours on this board. When he is hearing something, it is more strongly worded.

Third worst goal differential in the East, if that doesn’t get better I think we’re looking at the Calgary game on the 18th as a potential timeline. That game is on a Saturday and the next game is on Wednesday (day before Thanksgiving and then they go right back at it on Black Friday).
Here's the problem. If they want to hire a coach with pedigree, that coach will have second thoughts knowing Lou could soon be forced out or retire and a new GM would want his own guys behind the bench. Therefore, any coach coming in now would be a temp/interim guy that is not going to turn the team around. Malkin would need to force out LL now, hire a new GM, and then have him hire a new coach. So, we're likely looking at the end of the season for a chance at a decent coach. On top of that, if LL retires and Malkin allows junior to be the GM, we're F'ed forever, as it is doubtful any coach with a pedigree would come to that sh*tshow. We're in deep trouble.

Yeah, I don't see us having the cap flexibility to make it happen unfortunately. I'd like him too because he'd at the very least be an improvement from Aho/Bolduc.

Of the names of coaches who are out there, don't forget some maybe waiting it out to get a full view of the coaching landscape. Could an Edm or Pitt open up sometime this year?

Bottom line is that Lane is the coach but he has to get his team prepared to play and tonight would be a solid start in doing that. His seat could be getting a little warm.

I’m curious, with all this Lambert replacement conversation on this thread…

Are coaches likely to be replaced before or after a lengthy cross coastal road trip?

I don’t have a historical recollection on this.

IDK for sure, but I have a recollection that changes might be made around a trip and I've been speculating about that. It maybe makes more sense afterwards in this case since the Isles have a few days off between games, so a new coach could get in a couple of practices. On the other hand, making a change before a trip means no practices but also maybe less distractions and a captive audience (the players) on the road. But yeah, no idea otherwise.

Agree with most all of this. And if this isn't a reason to get rid of Lou ASAP so we can line up a better GM/coach duo I don't know what is...

I never care about what guys do in their personal lives if it leads to a team winning. That being said I would never support Q. There is some saying about how if 70% of people support the death penalty that 100% of people support the death penalty for child predators. Q knew and didn't do shit. f*** him.

Go get Sutter.

I say Babcock; Barzal is the first phone on plate.

I don’t have a historical recollection on this.

In pro sports it’s an unwritten rule, not to fire, coaches/managers during the road trips. It’s happened before though.

I vaguely remember the Mets firing Willie Randolph, either during where, in the beginning of a long road trip, and they received a lot of criticism about that

I agree not during a trip. Either the day before or the day after the trip (12/12 or 12/19).

Not the Mets. They fly you out to California then fire you after you check in to your hotel.

This team has got about ten years worth of contracts at nearly $20 million a year with ONE goal between them so far this season. That is incredibly bad management and coaching. If lambert is to go, then Lou should go too. After all, he put this roster together and handed out one awful deal after another that is bound to make this franchise suffer for a good number of years to come.

Trading for Horvat and then resigning Mayfield, Varly and Engvall all but eliminated the Isles flexibility for a retool. Those were “all in” moves which I wasn’t in favor of but regrettably Lou didn’t ask me.

The byproducts of those deals eliminated cap space and a pick and a prospect in the case of Horvat. Acquiring assets at last season’s TDL also would’ve given the Isles flexibility in a trade this past offseason or, God forbid, they could’ve drafted a prospect or two.

There are zero A level prospects left on the Isles. The only way to realistically turn the season around is for the current players to miraculously gel together or for Lou to acquire another player with the upcoming year’s first round pick. Chances are that pick would net a middle 6 forward or a #2 LHD. Does anyone here really think that’s enough to be a Cup contender?

With Lou still at the helm, we should be afraid. Be very afraid.
