To get this back on topic, it just looks like the islanders don't want to give Gauthier a fair shake at all. I would really like to see him with Barzal over Wahlstrom, but this is on coaching. Do they just trade Gauthier?
He will be in when the coach see’s they’ve lost 4 in a row.

Sooo....Gauthier is our savior......oh boy.....were in deep ...
We’ve been in deep for a while now, forget the offense , the Defense is no where close to what some feel is our strength. The Greene type Defensemen is sorely missed along with a puck mover who can exit the zone. Addison might have been a decent reclamation project but you need to live with his warts or be happy with 1 or 2 goals a night

I've been looking at the 4 game west coast trip as a logical time to make a coaching change -either right before or after. We'll see.

Candidates?

Q would be the HOFer option - obvious question is whether the owners/Lou would be on board (I suspect the league might okay it at this point). Then the question is whether that might also get you Patrick Kane?

I know people would hate it, but Darryl Sutter has won a couple of Cups and would certainly get the players' attention, if that's what they're looking for.

You have to think they'd go with an experienced/recycled option. But if they don't, then Jay Leach jumps out as being probably not only the most qualified non-recycled option but also has a connection to Lou.

It should be both Lamoriello and Lambert getting the hot seat yeeting, but this organization cannot throw Lou under the bus. Let him retire please. He's 81. This team needs a younger guy in charge. The game has gotten so much faster since 2019.

While im also at it, there is no benefit to a trade when your coach is this mediocre. This is a "send it" year, and i'd rather just suck and get Silyayev/Demidov than be a 1st round exit. Islanders need to get skill. You want skill? Keep that first.

For the blocked, what did he even say?

I mean, he’s pretty strongly hinting it here. I doubt he’d be putting stuff out here like this unless there was some smoke somewhere
I’m not at all disagreeing with your take.

But, All things considered…

Isles record, how the ACTUAL games have played out, Lou’s coaching change history and that ICB is a gambling centric social media account

…this is about as safe a bet as you can get without any inside knowledge.

…We’re gonna lose to the Oilers on Monday aren’t we
lol. Totally feels that way.

Saw a thread with the oilers schedule and their fan stating that there is no way they win 75% of those games. See the Isles listed there and I think to myself, well you’ve guaranteed at least one win.

This is probably a terrible time to post this, but I’m going to go out on a limb here.

I think we would regret the day we traded Barzal. Admittedly, when he started his NHL career, I thought of him as a potential perennial top 20 NHL forward. I got that one wrong. He’s still remarkably talented and I think he may one day unlock his potential with the right combination of linemates. It’s clear that he’s not the type of player that can do it himself.

Like it or not, I think we have to ride this out with him. While I might be wrong, it’s important to never be in doubt. :sarcasm:

And it feels like Pelech and Pulock are neither of these things since trotz left.

I feel the exact opposite. At some point you want players to take steps forward and he just never seems to and we blame everyone but the player. Aside from his ability to enter the zone I also think he’s the biggest issue on the PP too
