Well if that's your opinion...great, hope we all enjoy this horribly flawed team. This is going to be a long frustrating year, buckle in.

The conversation was about Wahlstrom but in general all we talk about here is how we don't have enough talent, how guys like Wally, Holmstrom, Fasching, etc, etc are ALL bottom 6 forwards...honestly mostly 4th liners. We are never going to win with this roster. But I guess guys like you will just have to see. Let's revisit this at the end of the year and again the following year and again when the year after that when Lou at 85 will trade everything we have left for a mid-30th forward come trading deadline. Maybe then you will agree with me.

Lou must go chant will always live on here until his ass is gone. He did his job initially with bring some respectability back with Trotzs hiring. But it's time to go and time to rebuild. The window to win in this league is small. We had our chance and we just missed. It's ok, but you have to know when it's time to move on.
This is the beginning of YEAR 3 in a new building. NO Rebuild - you are out to lunch if you think that is the right move for this franchise. Also, the 2024 draft year is NOT a good one. The team is competitive and has many solid pieces, especially at goalie.

Year 3 of a new building should NEVER come into the equation on the right moves to build a good roster and franchise!

Again if that's how you feel... than that's how you feel. But we will struggle every year teetering on missing the playoffs or getting that last playoff spot. And the years we make it, we aren't going anywhere in the playoffs because we have to grind every inch of the ice to win every game. And no chance in hell making the Stanley cup finals with this roster. So if that's everyone's end goal, so be it. I'd like to actually try and win a cup. Maybe I'm spoiled, because I saw the dynasty back in the 80's. Oh well.

You mean you dont want to go back to the mid 2000's and go to draft parties?? Okposo, Nino, Strome, Reinhart, Dal Colle!! Top 10 picks!! Nothing better than that. Nothing quite as exciting as being the next Buffalo Sabres. Who needs playoffs when you have prospects.
Don’t forget Dobson,Barzal,Nelson,Tavares,Bertuzzi,Kasparitis,Redden,Luongo,DiPietro,Brewer.

I don’t know if this is supposed to be a pro argument for rebuilding through draft talent…

Most of those players won nothing of significance. And the ones that are on the team now, people want to move from to rebuild anyway.

I agree it's nuts that people are upset with the current results and still playing Debbie Downer, I am also not getting my hopes up on the other end of the spectrum. Had a home heavy schedule and really haven't beaten anybody we shouldn't have. Like others have said, we need to see where we are at game 20 before we can overreact again, lol.

Sorokin, for one, wouldn’t have signed the contract he did if he felt the same way.

Isnt that exactly how you win in the playoffs?

Back to Varlamov tonight, right?
I would. Varlamov earned this start.

Looking at the week ahead, here's an opportunity to rest Sorokin until Tuesday. At that point we play every other day for the next 5 games. I'm thinking alternate the goalies for this stretch. No need to ride Sorokin too much.

Varlamov has been solid. There is no reason to ride Sorokin when Varlamov is looking as good as he is. I would argue this same point for riding the same D for 25 minutes a game as well.

So naturally Sorokin is the first goalie off the ice at morning skate.

Aaaaand we have Bolduc-Mayfield tonight, so that’s effectively 5 defensemen getting 90% of the minutes.

The point is, most of the league stars are usually first round picks. To win a cup you are always going to need some home grown stars in today’s cap world

Great now Hanifin scored a goal. They'll never get him from the Flames. this defense is so ASSSS but the islanders and NHL just suck and I hate this stupid sport

I’m aware of that concept. My point is that specific example actually managed to not convey it. If anything it conveyed how easy it is to miss on talent, and that the talent you do hit on is still not good enough.

Well would you look at that! My Uber driver in Hong Kong. Believe it or not he didn’t over sleep and was right on time. He weaved in and out of traffic never staying in his lane and never got off the road when he was supposed to!

Last nights loss to the Canes was enough proof to me that Lambert is a Big Problem....
Blowing Leads has become a Trend with the Isles now, along with their terrible PP.
I can only hope Lou has a "Plan B" when it comes to the Head Coach of this team...

Lambert acknowledged the recent issue but stopped short of defining it as a reoccurring tendency of his team through the first ten games of the season. "We're certainly hoping it's not a trend," said Lambert. "We've given away a couple of multi-goal leads, certainly not a recipe for success. Is it a trend? No, it's too early, but certainly something we need to make sure doesn't become a trend."

I beg to Differ....

This team ain’t going nowhere with Lambert. BOOK IT!

Which is sad becuase this is arguably the second strongest roster on paper in the post-Tavares era.

Lamoriello is a guy who evaulates his team in two ways…

1.) In stretches of every 10 games
2.) Goal differential

If the Islanders look the same after the 20 game mark, I would be praying for a coaching chance. This team needs an IDENTITY!

I don’t care what the identity is just have one, because right now the identity with Lambert is…

• Get outshot
• Get outchanced
• Pray your goaltending stands on their head
• Convert on your <10 choice opportunties a night
