Well if that's your opinion...great, hope we all enjoy this horribly flawed team. This is going to be a long frustrating year, buckle in.A conversation about Wahlstrom turns into "rebuild now" and "Lou must go." Sigh.
I think (and apparently so does management/ownership) that this team still has some playoff runs left in them. A rebuild may bring us closer to a cup down the road but obviously that is not guaranteed. What would be guaranteed is ZERO playoff runs and ZERO playoffs in the near term. Probably 4-5 years. Essentially giving up on Sorokin's, Barzal's, Dobson's, Romanov's, Engvall's prime years. We all want to build the team "the right way." But whatever you (or the new GM) feel is right way, may ultimately result in a peak that is not as good as what we had/have with this core. The risk to rebuild now outweighs the reward IMO.
Yeah, sorry I wasn't wearing my blue and orange glassesWe are one point behind Tampa and Toronto with a game in hand on each and 2 behind Carolian with 2 games in hand and all we do is COMPLAIN . . .
Last year we scored 2.96 GPG and gave up 2.71 GPG (2.62 this year on defense and on offense)
Can we wait until 20 games and compare those numbers before we rebuild?
4-2-2 and easily could be 6-2. And we're top-heavy right now, with a nice help from the 4th line as CCM have 5G/5A in 8 games
The top 2 lines are producing while the 3rd line hasn't yet. The team shooting % is 8.0 this year, which is actually worse than last year's 9.6%. 263 shots on goal (33 per game is an improvement over less than 31 last year) at 9.6% is four more goals than the 21 we have scored so far. That's the difference between 4-2-2 and 6-2.
We are winning 54% of all the faceoffs too.
Dobson has 2G/7A already, but the ENTIRE rest of the defense has 3 assists! Pulock, Aho and Pelech will do better than that eventually, as has been their history. Mayfield had 6G/18A last year too.
It's not hard to see that we are on the cusp of a potential breakout offensively and if it happens, we could be on a nice run.
Go get them, I'll wait . . .Yeah, sorry I wasn't wearing my blue and orange glasses View attachment 761816
Since glasses are worn to make things clear. I couldn't find the ones that lie and make this team look good and a playoff team. So I'll just paint my face and lie.Go get them, I'll wait . . .
That's because the stance is based on ideological dogma.A conversation about Wahlstrom turns into "rebuild now" and "Lou must go." Sigh.
Oesterle should be a target on the blue line if we have to IR Pelech.
okayWell if that's your opinion...great, hope we all enjoy this horribly flawed team. This is going to be a long frustrating year, buckle in.
Conversation was about Wahlstrom but in general all we talk about here is how we don't have enough talent, how guys like Wally, Holmstrom, Fasching, etc, etc are ALL bottom 6 forwards...honestly mostly 4th liners. We are never going to win with this roster. But I guess guys like you will just have to see. Let's revisit this at the end of the year and again the following year and again when the year after that when Lou at 85 will trade everything we have left for a mid-30th forward come trading deadline. Maybe then you will agree with me.
Lou must go chant will always live on here until his ass is gone. He did his job initially with bring some respectability back with Trotzs hiring. But it's time to go and time to rebuild. The window to win in this league is small. We had our chance and we just missed. It's ok, but you have to know when it's time to move on.

Yeah, 5 years of being stability seems like enough. Lottery balls are going to help keep the respectability.
You mean you dont want to go back to the mid 2000's and go to draft parties?? Okposo, Nino, Strome, Reinhart, Dal Colle!! Top 10 picks!! Nothing better than that. Nothing quite as exciting as being the next Buffalo Sabres. Who needs playoffs when you have prospects.
I just find it weird to suggest he brought respectability back and helped stabilized the franchise but we need to get rid of him ASAP. The thought process is that the respectability and stabilization are now here permanently? It's not, you need people that possess the traits necessary to establish those things. Just seems odd to even bring it up if you're just looking to get rid of those things and/or replace him with someone else who would provide the same.
And nothing says "stability" like a rebuild.
Lamoriello has been able to do many good things, but his bad will be remembered more unfortunately. I may be a very negative person but this IS a good roster, and we are experiencing seeing our captain regress to being a liability. His credit should be with getting trades done with the Canucks, Devils, Leafs, and Arizona to get us beneficial players, while removing some of the worst deadweight off of our roster. He's drafted very well for some overagers, and some will make the NHL. For a guy who has to work with 5-6 picks a year, that isn't terrible.Agreed. I just dont understand the cries for "Rebuild" do people not remember what it was like for a good 20 years dating back from the mid 90's?
Sure Lou has made some questionable decisions, and certainly some moves i disagree with, but overall hes a net positive. Respectability, professionalism, and loyalty are things this organization lacked for a long time.
I doubt that very much, honestly.Lamoriello has been able to do many good things, but his bad will be remembered more unfortunately.
I think there will be some who remember him for the Toews trade unfortunately, and giving out that much term to Engvall or Mayfield and blah blah blah.I doubt that very much, honestly.
Wow, yeah, ok. I guess.I think there will be some who remember him for the Toews trade unfortunately, and giving out that much term to Engvall or Mayfield and blah blah blah.
I think I'll be remembering all the playoff games I went to over the Devon Toews trade.I doubt that very much, honestly.

Is there a GAS leak on this board?I think there will be some who remember him for the Toews trade unfortunately, and giving out that much term to Engvall or Mayfield and blah blah blah.
Boy if that isn't the most narrow minded comment...but that's fine, everyone is entitled to their opinionsYeah, 5 years of being stability seems like enough. Lottery balls are going to help keep the respectability.
you guys just don't get it. No matter how I explain it, it won't register with you.I just find it weird to suggest he brought respectability back and helped stabilize the franchise but we need to get rid of him ASAP.
