The excuses we make here for not rebuilding always gives me a chuckle. The team should have been broken up in 2022.
I said that choosing to not rebuild after Tavares left was the right move. I was one of many who wanted to rebuild. That years draft was terrible inside the top ten. You seem to just be adding your own opinion and facts in for a pretty basic post I made. Nowhere did I bring up 2022.

I added my own opinion, that 2022 after we missed the playoffs was the right to to start breaking it down.

Islanders fans = all fans across any sport.
Not even close. There are teams like the Flyers, the Blues, the Canadian teams (with the exception of Ottawa) for starters that never had the mass exodus of fans Islanders did.

Less than 1% chance of this happening but Tatar would be a good middle six add to this team
Tatar is still a good enough 2way 5v5 player that I think he'd be a pretty good replacement for Parise there. He has declined steadily on the PP the past 3 seasons to the point that he won't help ours, and of course, he has never been a PKer at all. Parise was also terrible last year on the PP -- not quite as bad as Tatar was, but bad enough that I'm not worried about replacing his minutes on it. We'd still need someone to replace Parise's PK minutes (Engvall, maybe?) -- unless we're expecting Horvat to take all of them, but I'd prefer not to do that. But as long as the money was right for a 3rd liner who isn't expected to contribute on special teams at all, he'd be a solid pick up.

That said, I do also agree that this is rather unlikely, so it's probably moot. Then again, there is something about the utter silence around any rumors on Tatar that does make me wonder if there is a slight chance it could happen.

So, in essence, it was made up clickbait in the dog days of the NHL offseason?

Well the article never claimed it as a rumor, so it's not even made up. But with how Lou likes to wait until the last minute to announce signings and manages to keep the ru.ors around them quiet until at least right around that point, it does seem like a possibility that it's happening here. Do I think that's the likely answer? No, but a bit more than a 1% chance it is.
Something tells me too that Clutterbuck is gonna be the LTIR casualty that gets other guys in the line-up.
Wouldn't mind seeing him LTIR'd to start the season (he's gotta have something wrong Lou can use to get him through). It would give the team more flexibility to play with the roster and try out the new guys, find iut who fits and where. Then it also leaves Clutter better rested for the final playoff drive, and of course, the playoffs themself. His PKing was good for the most of time he played last season, but then he seemed worn down towards the end and in the playoffs, and that was with only 49 regular season games played. Or maybe he was playing injured, but even if so, that's also a reason to give him more time to get back to full strength.

There was a rumor a couple of weeks ago that the pens were in on Tatar and are likely to offer him a PTO… unless someone else offers him a contract. Take that with a grain of salt..
