The last team I’d be worried about signing Johnny hockey.Buzz was the Pens were a dark horse for Gaudreau. This would take them out of that race.

There is no comparison. Calgary was a Cup contender this season and was not going to trade Gaudreau under any circumstances. In 2017-18 the Islanders were below .500 and didn't sniff the playoffs. JT was a perfect trade deadline roster building asset for the Islanders, but he told them not to trade him.No, but the main board is saying Calgary got the Tavares treatment - he knew he wasn’t signing, but led Calgary on until they called his bluff by offering maximum dollars which he ultimately rejected.
Johnny would be the NYI best player by farI think Lou has a good barometer on the internal cap structure. He's not going to go so high to alienate his highest paid players IMO when they took team discounts. He's all about team. I believe he will offer 9.5 in that area, for Johnny Hockey off of a 115 pt season, and a career where he has consistently produced. This should not ruffle any feathers. He would be the best player on this team, including better than Barzal. It's a number I would be very comfortable with. The cap we can worry about before game 1. if it happens, then Lou will jettison some cap/players.
Coyotes absolutely have a better shot.Really..? Even more "last" than the Coyotes?
That’s why I listed them
Let the penguins keep going down the path of Ken Holland, im liking it.The right move but also the wrong move. Think the Pens would have been more interesting by going younger(ish) and trading for Miller.
Read Crosby interceded after talks disintegratedI have to chuckle, wasn't there a tweet just a hour ago that said Malkin was excited about testing the market.
Be great to get a flurry of signings at 12:00:01AM like the NBA and NFLfree agency starts at 12pm right?
You’re right about the devils location but it is “IN” Jersey but it isn’t a huge difference.Don't want to be a stickler but you made it sound like NJ and Philly were both the "hometown" teams as if it's a distance thing. I do believe Gaudreau lives or was born real close to Philly but in terms of "close to home" the Devils aren't really that different then the 2 NY teams
Well if it was 8-9M, good lord. Geno is barely like his godmode self nowadaysJesus this is what Pittsburgh was fighting over in terms of giving a 4th year, I assumed Malkin wanted like 8-9M a year?
Had a nice half season last year. He'll be pushing 40 in 4 years. By then he'll be in a wheelchairWell if it was 8-9M, good lord. Geno is barely like his godmode self nowadays

Disagree, when on the ice the dude is still among the absolute best in the businessWell if it was 8-9M, good lord. Geno is barely like his godmode self nowadays

How far is Long Island to NJ and Philly by car. Would you consider it being close enough to family? You’re right about the devils location but it is “IN” Jersey but it isn’t a huge difference.
