My Fear is that Josh Bailey remains an Islander and starts opening day in October.

Not sure that you should be afraid that last season's 9th leading scorer (in 64 games) would come back to the team.

You should be more afraid that your GM is trying to trade your 9th leading scorer on a team desperate for more scoring to free up cap space just to keep things status quo...And cannot do so.

Amazing how a team like Vegas can make moves like this yearly while we're stuck with underperforming guys like Palmieri and Bailey. So tired of the same offseasons year after year.
You want moves for the sake of moves

Its fair to say that we want moves, but to say Palmieri is underperforming is absurd, since Palmieri has been a very good force *when healthy*. If you want to be upset at injuries, I absolutely agree. The more important thing for us will be the defenseman, and seeing if we can get out of those Ross/Bailey/CC Contracts

you can't honestly tell me you think Bailey should remain with the isles and actually be in the starting lineup??? Really?

I don't think he's saying that. Just that we need to do something, and not bring back the same roster yet again. I see nothing wrong with that comment
But how much does Reilly Smith or Yegor Sharangovich or Tyler Toffoli move the needle?

I wouldn't put Palmieri in the same category as Bailey.

Palms was a darn good contributor when he was healthy and one of our best playoff guys this past season.

ok, so I'll ask you...what would you want and what would move the needle for you. To me, the way we should do is break down the Core and trade them and build around Brazal, Dobson, Sorokin...

But if you are not breaking it down Sharangovich at was 23 years old makes sense.

I think that if we managed to get someone like Dumba or Graves, then it helps us. Hell, even a guy like Kostin or Domi could help. I would've liked to see Sharangovich btw, but no way the Devils trade with us. Again, small minor moves. We're not in the shape for major trades in the now.

I hope Barbashev got a NMC in that new deal. Otherwise he is gone when the shiny, new toy comes along. Clearly Vegas has talent but also got VERY lucky with a third-string goalie stepping up and outperforming significantly.

Vegas has less loyalty to their guys that have won the cup than we do to our core who’ve done jack shit since 2015

Palms is as advertised, however, he has been money in the playoffs for this team. So, might wanna look at other players for underperforming when it counts. Palms has delivered on that.

He played very well, not Bob-like, the team is structured to minimize shots against and protect the goalie - they’ve been chewing through goalies year over year, and going deep each one except last year when they missed the playoffs.

I would say he just needed to be Osgood and he was. Now, is he gonna live up to his new contract, unlikely. Good for Vegas they weren’t fools like STL and signed Binnington to his absurd deal.

Funny how Vegas spits players out when they think their time is done or are underperforming and fans get all lit up about it. In Isles country, there’s holding onto all kinds of old dogs, shiny dogs with wings that can fly hoping they become their fantasy image of their projections, and spending all the energy on Josh Bailey. Vegas = Cup. Isles = No Cup.
