BTW, reports are that the NYR have Kadri at the top of their want list. That makes sense, even though they don't really have cap room for the kind of money he wants. He'd be a 2C there. If the Isles went after him it would be to play LW - not sure that would appeal to him.

He'd fit right in as an extremely hateable player in a blueshirt uniform.

Fleury -> Barnaby -> Avery -> Kadri

Its just meant to be.

But in all seriousness, the Rangers are probably the best fit for Kadri to find similar offensive production as he had with Colorado… for the immediate to mid-term of his new contract.

The rags are planning to go 7 years $8mil+ on Kadri. I actually really like Kadri but he just had a ridiculous career year at 32. He would help now but that contract will end up hurting. Free agency is a scary thing

It’s being reported that CGY offered Gudreau 8 years $10mil+ and he hasn’t accepted. That’s scary.

Either he wants more money or he really wants to go home to Flyers or Devils. Either way not good for the isles lol

Kadri to NYR is a great move for both. Adding some jam. Is it too much money? Sure, however, they went into go for it mode pretty quickly. Also, they did not really play any muscle teams in the playoffs this year. Plenty of waifs on that team.

On Gudreau, well, like I said, PHI does this all the time in tossing out big deals to players only to build fractured lineups that have zero cohesion - hence, since the post-Lindros era they've pretty much been meh except a flash in the pan season.

I know we miss out in UFA and the big fish I am just not sure Gaudreau is the player we hitch our wagon to long term. I am worried about how he plays in the Metro.

Burakovsky may be a fit. Other teams will be in on him as well. I have no idea what tomorrow and the upcoming week looks like for the Isles.

Tbh I’d be happy passing on both players, Milano is interesting to me in the island connection and his skill level. I’d look at Vatrano, Kubalik Has been mentioned here although I’m not sold, Lindblom, Domi and Reilly Smith all interest me as well. I don’t think we necessarily need big fish to at least start year.

Scratching guys in the SC finals is never a good sign.

Team desperately needs offense. But 115 pt guy is just not good enough for the islanders.

Hey I would be super excited to see him play on this team but also reserved and wary due to financials and term. It would bring a lot excitement and eyeballs to this team and I certainly will root for him to be successful. Not sure if he is a 115 pt forward on this team or if the big fish UFA route is the best.

Tomorrow is going to fun and there is a reason they call it the "Silly Season."

Christ, if he puts up 90 points, he makes a huge difference

Isles: delzotto. Gustaffson. Kulak.

Johnny G to the flyers. Patrick kane to the rags

Just another NHL FA period in the islanders-verse.:facepalm::facepalm:

That sounds about right.. I still think we get Keith Yandle. its right right up our alley of getting "locker room guys" and then I'll read posts about character and how Lou and company value character above everything else.

Islanders absolutely have the space to add a forward so cap it not an excuse. You can go 8.25 over the cap since you get a 10% buffer in off-season. I think if you can add a game changer like Gaudreau and he comes here (don’t think he will) you make a move like that and deal with the cap after. We have moveable players and we don’t have to sign Romanov and Dobson right away can have a handshake deal like Lou loves to do and move a player or 2 and get it to work. I feel like Lou hasn’t moved anybody because he wants to see how weds shakes out first. Then you can look to flip a Bailey or Varlamov if needed to get everyone in here. Absolutely no excuse islanders can’t be major players this off-season. New arena/competitive/opportunity to play with Barzal should entice somebody to want to come play here.

If he wants to come here you absolutely pay and sign him. 70-90 points for the foreseeable future and would be the scoring threat we have needed for years.

Makes ya wonder what it would have cost us at the draft

Is there any doubt Lou would've paid at least 20% more than any other offer?

That said if this is true I am wondering why the market for Miller isn't there. This is a player whose a minimum 20/30 1st line player with good character. Is it that the Canucks are asking for an insane package and the offers are just fair...Or most of the league doesn't value the player as much?

Just like Panarin, Gaudreau will use NYI to bump up his price for PHI/NJD.

But unlike Panarin I won't mind if Isles' rivals overpay for any player.

Is Chris Botta reliable? I always thought if the Isles get Gaudreau it would not be solely on who offers the most money but more on it is the right fit for him.
