Personally I much rather pony up and trade for Kane if he is willing to extend then sign Gaudreau for 7 years. For starters Kane's salary will probably be cheaper and contract shorter, but I also think positionally we can use a RW more then a LW.

I posted this once before (maybe 2 months ago) and will a second and final time.

In the off-season Johnny coaches a close friend of my family and has done so for years. They got to talking a short while back and Johnny expressed the following:

1. NYR his top free agency destination
2. NYI is a close second and a very strong consideration.

No mention of resigning in Calgary, NJ or Philly were made during the exchange.

This was all discussed on a personal level.

Take it for what it’s worth.

Gaudreau is not coming here, period. Around 12:15 tomorrow after he signs in PHI we’ll get a fabricated James Nichols tweet saying “Isles made a competitive offer for Gaudreau, but I’m told he wanted to be closer to home” and then we’ll sign a depth defenseman.

Don’t get your hopes up people. This happens every year.
Don’t be so sure. The perception is that it will be quite some time before NJ and Philly in any meaningful way.

I have almost zero hope for JG but when you look at the team/organization/arena etc isles have had more success then both philly and Jersey. Brand new arena and one of the best practice facilities around. Philly just hired Torts who wants to play defense and block shots. Team was a dumpster fire last year. Honestly I could see it coming down to Calgary or NY

Botta is a Bozo. Thanks folks. As for Johnny Hockey coming to Long Island, put an offer and let him decide. No bells and whistles needed, if you need to get on your knees to have a player want to play for jersey, I would not rather have them.

If you have kids in their teens who played competitive youth hockey you build relationships.

His is with JG.

Mine is the likes of Marty St Louis, Marek Zidlicky, Jeff Hamilton, collegiate head coaches and others.

No need to believe me. Is why I said ‘ take it for what it’s worth ‘.

Let’s see what happens and what buzz gets created around it by the true trusted insiders.

1- ignore the source

2- I’m not saying I want him but his name was thrown out and I found this stat.

Let’s be honest. If he puts up 80pts he makes a huge difference

If a guy puts the puck in the net with regularity and points on the board I’ll take him. Let someone else on the line play D.

This team desperately needs offense. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

That’s because it is a lie lol

Right. It’s a lie. So let me justify myself to you long time poster and obviously a detective in the real world….

It’s why I posted the same thing 2 months ago. It’s why JG is still unsigned in Calgary. It’s why both nyr and nyi rumors are hitting now when the experts have said Philly and NJ for the past 2 years aka JT in Toronto.

Heaven for bid someone has real world connections and shares info on a board where clearly no one knows more about the sport or scoop than 10,000 post posters like yourself. So continue to laugh it up hot shot.

I hope he signs with one of the two simply so I can watch you go radio silent with your finger up your butt.

There was the guy who was friends with Ladd because their kids played together, he assured us all Ladd was retiring and he couldn't play anymore. He heard it "from the horses mouth."

Next thing that happened was Ladd being traded and actually playing for Arizona.

Not calling you a liar or anything but everyone will be skeptical.

Yandle averaged less than 13 minutes on Philadelphia of all teams. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him earn an ATO since teams still need to ice a certain amount of veterans in preseason but I’d be surprised if he actually got an NHL deal.

Kulak would be a nice get to play with Mayfield and I honestly don’t mind Del Zotto at 1 year 1M per.

Gaudreau grew up a Flyers fan, so he should know better than anyone what a dumpster fire that organization is. Add in Torts asking him to block every shot, including in practice, and that should disqualify Philly.

Realistically neither the Devils or Rags need him.

The Rags need a 2C, at least one quality defenseman and presumably a backup goalie. Drury should be looking elsewhere. He is also going to have lots of his own players to extend in the coming years.

As for the Devil's, they have so many other needs and are flush in young, high-end forward talent. I would also have serious questions about the toughness and team leadership.

I guess we will see tomorrow.

You sound completely rational. Def don’t seem like an unhinged person looking for attention.

Nightmare scenario:

NYR trade for Patrick Kane and he reunites with Panarin.

Lou then signs Kadri for 7 years at like $8M.

Yup - That's about as nightmarish as it gets.

...Which of course means that if we trade for Kane and the rangers sign Kadri that would be a dream. :thumbu:

Toughness is a lot cheaper to add than high end scoring.

Where New Jersey is weak is in goal for me. Vanacek + Blackwood (or someone else) doesn’t really instill a whole lot of confidence for me.

Amen.

Not to mention...Kane is significantly better than Gaudreau (and has been a better playoff performer).

Something I'd love to see, but will never happen...

1) Isles sign John Klingberg...
2)...Then trade Pulock to help fix the offense.

Then Isles still sign two more bottom pairing defenseman (not Salo-like AHLer's)...

...And maybe even move out Mayfield (because he's ok, but you could get a good asset for his cheap contract and he's not going to be worth the UFA deal he gets in a year).

The biggest hurdle with Kane is that he has full control of where he goes.

Is NYI even on his radar? Maybe if they come out like gangbusters next season and Kane is rental situation.

Signing him to an extension means Palmieri will have to be moved next offseason. Two years at 5M per with a modified NTC should be workable…
