Wrong.

You basically defend a position and then in the same post you contradict it by saying posters can post whatever their opinion is.

You were correct in the second account. It is perfectly fine for any opinion to be shared but the same respect needs to be shown to those who differentiate.

For some, it is ALL ABOUT WINNING THE CUP, and for many if that isn't possible then you do what you can to be cup contenders in the FUTURE. Being annual cup contenders to many is better than simply making the playoffs.

As for the difference in opinions, those should be RESPECTED. If you don't want to "read that shit right now" then simply skip over it. Many posters don't want to read about the ones who are satisfied with just getting into the playoffs (which are much more frequent) either and more times than not they are being respected- the exact same respect that should be given to those who aren't satisfied with that "settling".

That is the bottom line, if you don't want to read a certain opinion; skip over it.....but if you just have to reply, be respectful about it.

Period.
Dude this is a message board.

A place for discussion- not a place for monologues. This is a place where fans share varying viewpoints and discuss and sometimes argue.

You have every right to post whatever you want as passionately as you want but you should expect someone to chime in as passionately as they want. You can’t have it one way.

Toughen up and keep posting - argue your POV and maybe you find common ground and maybe you don’t.

I didn’t like what you wrote and chose not to engage. What compelled me to post was about opposing factions and division on this board. We are all Isles fans, crazy Isles fans to spend time on this board, we all have varying viewpoints across multiple topics. For example, it’s not like posters who want Lou fired are getting banned or being treated differently. That group may feel piled on because maybe most posters don’t feel the same.

IF You POST expect discussion OR the opposite POV.

Bailey's contract is off the books after next year. Palmieri joins Pageau as having a MTC. Nelson is a question mark for me in terms of moving. A productive player still and a C. There are some moves here if the Isles want to get younger and cheaper.

I disagree - Cal plays a heavy game yes, but IMO he is more skilled player with a better shot. He is a very good penalty killer.

I am a fan of Fasching - I love that he drives to the net - his hustle and board battles have been a shot in the arm.

I go with Cal.
yeah not anymore. cal's shot went to bed when he hurt his hand. this is not the same cal cluttebuck

Clean and respectful discussion is fine, I was the one championing that.

What we don't need is comments like "no one wants to read this shit" or other disrespectful comments of that nature.

Don't want to read it, skip it....it is really that simple. If you reply, be respectful.....period.

My guess it is an injury that is 4-6 weeks or 6-8 weeks. We know there was no surgery - looking Kaprizov injury 3-4 weeks for LBI.

The 6 week mark puts it to the end of March, giving it about 2 weeks before the playoffs.

If that's the case, this team is in trouble.

Well, I've read enough of this back and forth. Move along.

Brock Nelson has cooled off. 2 goals in his last 9 games. With Horvat also having cooled off we will need more of that secondary scoring. Good on Engvall for not letting early benchings affect him, but it's not enough. Either our bottom 6 and defensemen find the back of the net more often or Horvat/Nelson/Lee/Palmieri/Dobson must start scoring in bunches. As they go, so go the Islanders.

Nelson is getting more attention from #1 pairing Dman and defensive specialists since #13 is gone. Think the isles take the next two as the ebb and flows of the stretch drive continues

Agreed. It doesn’t let the other guys off the hook though.

I said this in the GDT, but I’d like to ser Palmieri with Horvat and Lee tonight. His shots should create some rebound chances for 27 and 14.

Lee and Horvat need someone to drive the line. Someone who can carry the puck and make zone entries. Bailey is not that guy. With Barzal out I would rather see someone like Engval on that line. At least he can carry the puck into the zone. Even Holmstrom would have done a better job than the invisible Bailey did last night.
I would even entertain bringing Bolduc or Salo back up and trying Aho on that line rather than wasting Lee and Horvat with Bailey.
That last line is really sarcastic but there is some truth in it.

Lee-Horvat are getting scoring chances. Actually, Lee had been putting his chances in lately so it isn’t as troubling to me that Horvat hasn’t been scoring. As long as the high danger chances are there for them I don’t worry about them needing a “line driver.” Just need to finish consistently.

Barzal was starting to mesh well with (2) captains just going to the net. It has the making of a very good line. 3 hungry players and pro's. Certainly takes any pressure off Nelson if he starts squeezing the stick tight. Anyway, let's win the next two. Lick wounds and get at Toronto on Tuesday. Just don't think Bailey is the guy for that spot. I would call up the french kid!

So it was that middle-ish 30 game stretch that was the issue.

Since people barely check the UBS thread these days I hope everyone will forgive me for putting this here, but could use some help.

Going to the Leafs game this Tuesday. A few questions about parking....

  • I see on the UBS website that Emerald parking is free for BMW owners (but is "limited"). I lease a BMW so I assume that still applies, but anyone have any experience with this?
  • Can anyone show up to the Belmont Park Garage and pay for parking there or is that only for season ticket holders?
  • Anyone have a lead on how to get a parking pass on any of the VIP lots closer to the arena?

Kindly let me know. Thanks.

Tonight’s Pens-Rags game is quite the dilemma for me.

Getting the #7 spot would be far preferable to #8 for obvious reasons. That’s especially true with Svechnikov now out for the Canes.

Gonna hold my nose and hope Shesty is a sieve but somehow wins ugly.
