Seeing on Twitter Holmstrom and Koivula are still practicing with the Isles, Duran Duran was sent down. Paper moves for Koivula and Holmstrom, they're not playing in BPT tonight.

That's a cap move by Lou. JGP not skating with team yet so can't figure it's a move to allow him to come back. Interesting

I’d like to have him but I’d like to make sure we sign him, I think Engvall will be signed and I think that was good move to lengthen the lineup. if Domi has no interest in staying I’d like isles to pivot and take flyer on guy like Lebanc or Fischer.
Agreed. We are in no position to flip futures for a B type rental who likely won’t resign here.

After deadline, isn’t there an expanded roster? Would make no sense to put them in Bridgeport unless he needs the money for a move. Unless I’m wrong, can someone confirm?

Stop already dude, there is no contradictions being said. Me listing many players DOES NOT automatically mean I am insinuating we trade many or "all of them" like Washington has done. It could just be a simple list to imply that we should be sellers and not buyers. Doesn't have to indicate a rebuild either, again something I am not insinuating and am perfectly aware Lou would not entertain.

I'm trying to understand what point you're making because it's not clear. You want to be sellers, wanting to trade more than just the UFAs (potentially), but somehow that's unlike what Washington has done. You're not insinuating a rebuild, but you want to trade players to gain assets to help in the future.

How is what you want different than what Washington just did?

As for the endless circle beating drum of the games in hand argument, there is absolutely nothing wrong with adding the total of those four teams to emphasize my point that there are several teams behind us and they all have multiple games in hand. You wanted to make something more of it than it was.

You clarified this, I have no issue with it and said so...but you're bringing it back up again.

You are smart enough to know that other points can be made with both of these instances without taking the exaggerated meanings and replying back to them...

For some reason I see you doing this a lot and it is tiresome

Sorry, I like to be specific.

It's just to accrue as much cap space as possible before tomorrow's deadline.

Expanded like DKS pointed out, yes, but there is still the salary cap.

Yeah no roster limit after deadline i believe is correct.
Yeah but that’s my point why would it matter if we acrue cap space and not use it…we’re not over it now so it wouldn’t make any sense for Lou to do that unless he’s trying to maximize space to make another deal. Why not just leave them up unless he’s looking to add. And like I’ve said before let me get domi! 2026 2nd take it.

I don't think it means a move is imminent but that he's maximizing his ability to make one if he wants.

Act as sellers, yes of course. No, that does not mean "wanting to trade more than just the UFA's" unless of course it makes us better in long run. I agree we are NOT in the same position as the Capitals. Again it doesn't have to be acting like Washington and shedding the roster of numerous players, but it also shouldn't be trading away the few assets we have left for rental players either. My argument is in its entirety and not limited to simply trading away players...(although it would be hard to argue against even attempting to on the UFA's)

Games in hand (again)- Actually you brought it up again and used the same "weird way of looking at it" phrasing which again implies it was more than it was. A simple I understand what you meant would have been suffice.

Spending enough assets on rentals in previous years will hamstring your ability to get what you need in the future. Hence why I don’t want to spend a 2nd on Domi if he’s a rental, even if it’s 2026 2nd. That’s a move for teams like Boston, not us.

The idea with a 2026 is that it can be recouped prior to that time if necessary so if Lamoriello is going to make a trade I'd prefer him to use picks further down the line like that.

I don't know why, but I'm preparing myself for nothing else to be done. I like the Engvall and Horvat moves. Our D needs help, but I get the sense that those moves will be it.

The sad thing is if we don't make the playoffs, as it stands, we really have nothing left that would change the outlook for 2023-24 season outside of Horvat for 82 games but no scorers coming, goaltending on expiring contracts, up against the cap... We are kind of stuck in the mud with an average team that has above average goaltending that we hope will resign.
Hey, let me enjoy wallowing in the misery of this season before I start thinking about next year's misery.

Arizona needs to be investigated for what it's doing. I feel so bad for their fans. Not even Wang was this cheap.
It's absurd that the NHL put out a statement about teams abusing the cap with injured players but they'll just keep letting Arizona do it.
Hey, enough of this Az trashing. Lou is working on the Bailey and Clutterbuck deals.

I don't think Lamoriello needs to do more, but he can if it's a longer term move. Otherwise you just ride out the season. It's that simple.
Doesn't Lou always say something like, "if you can make a move to improve your team now and for the future you do it"?

So yeah, I think you're right.
