my unlikey scenerio is the Caps suck worse than us and the young teams behind us and Fla all falter and Horvat and Sorokin carries the team into a playoff spot and Lou and Lane are hailed as heroes
I’m thinking Penguins and Buffalo they have 5 games in hand and are very close. You can’t rule out Ottawa either, I think Washington and NYI slide Panthers can’t get out of their own way.

I have watched Ottawa a bit. They have a really bright future. I'm not sleeping on Det. Be an interesting trade deadline!

Ottawa has some studs. Stutzle and Tkachuk is a great combo for the next few years.

I also think Buffalo is a good goalie and a good defensive defenseman away from being very dangerous.

If we are sellers Buffalo should absolutely be calling about Varly and Mayfield. Those 2 players would be huge additions for them.

They are a healthy motivated Kane away from being dangerous. I'm not a Kane fan personally but from a hockey standpoint, he is a perfect fit for them

I love watching Stutzle play. Tkachuk has a nice edge to him and seems to be a vocal leader. Nice to have Giroux there as vet support on and off ice too.

I think Dufour is. His game has actually become more solid in Bridgeport since his return and I'd have no trouble giving him more than the 9 minutes Lambert gave him on the Barzal line. As for Durandeau, I know you've been touting him and Wotherspoon but I just don't see it with Spoon, and Durandeau I'm leery of when the game comes at him. Like Wotherspoon he is turnover prone at the AHL level and I don't see it getting better for him up here.

If Durandeau gives us a 3 game adrenaline rush like Fasching did when he was first called up I'd be satisfied with that.
Ishakov and Dufour no doubt are the upside guys for sure, Durandeau is what he is but to me thst maybe a good fourth liner who scores 12-15 goals. He plays his butt off like Cizikas. It does well for organization though and guys down there that guys like Wotherspoon and Durandeau get shots here. Wotherspoon played well in his 12 games, he’s a seventh guy at nhl level I agree with you but he’s tough and in pinch isn’t bad.

all i can find is that he had upper body injury in early march 2021, then covid protocol late march same year

it's not a great sign when Lambert is being asked about his availability for training camp and not giving an answer
Why would anyone ask him about camp since isles never said he was out for year. He came back and tried to skate, I’ve said before but one if first tests is ACL test so he passed that to even come out and try and skate. It’s probably MCL strain which would put him out month to six weeks so he likely misses regular season games or most of them. If they get in cause why not at this point he could come back I’d bet.

Poor Dr. Kevorkian ripped by the media treated like a pariah and today 14 states allowing euthanasia.
He was ahead of his time

Not sure. That's today's media

Nelson is worth at least 2 late firsts +...it's entirely possible. We can always add a small + if there is a difference to be made.
I don’t actually disagree with that valuation in a vacuum. It’s just that markets can be an unpredictable thing. But mostly I was just commenting more on that podcast. I don’t think they are at all connected.

Durandeau looks like a great Barzal replacement for now. You can tell he doesn't want to ride the bus anymore.
Looked every bit of Jason Blake when he first arrived on the Isles. I’d take that for the 3rd or 4th line. Don’t even need him to become the scorer that Blake did.

Just no endless Blake circles around the offensive zone. He was a lot like Barzal was at times with nobody available to pass to.

Kid played a solid game last night, definitely got a lot longer of a leash than some of the other call-ups this season.

"Some teams have also expressed various levels of interest in centre Jean-Gabriel Pageau, who is out of action with an upper-body injury for roughly another week.

Pageau, 30, has three more years left on his contract after this season and comes with a $4.5 million cap hit. He also owns a 16-team no-trade list as part of his contract. One of the teams believed to have poked around on him this season is the Carolina Hurricanes."

Loved everything I saw from him. Drew two penalties, excellent forecheck, got pucks on net. Want to see more to see if he can sustain it.
Agree. I think the biggest concern about his size will be if he can handle the grind of a typical NHL schedule.

Not surprised one bit! Because he’s a damn good HOCKEY PLAYER, and more than earning his pay. This board severely undervalues him.

We are paying $5m for a 3C who is solid in the faceoff circle and is decent on penalty killing. Has 3 5v5 goals all year and has been on PP1 majority of the time with 29 points. He is not worth the money or near what we gave up to get him
