Not many good bakeries in the RDU. I miss the Buttercooky and Tulip Bakeshop bakeries in Floral Park.
Next time you're in Myrtle, a trip to Benjamin's Bakery and Cafe in Surfside well worth the drive. Owner is terrific guy. Genuinely warm and welcoming. Confections galore! Old fashioned bagel sandwiches!

Already have our plans to be down there next Christmas. Probably pop in there every day!

Kurz isn’t at The Athletic to echo fan concerns, he’s there to flex his ‘writing prowess’ and write interesting pieces.

Anyone with Islanders media credentials knows the game their playing (i.e. don’t throw dictator under the rug or the dictator will pull the rug out from under you).
Man, we never criticized the dictator during the dynasty years!!

Hey, you see Phoenix is on the road this year with Beck Hansen?.....depending on venue, various 3rd acts. I've heard Japanese Breakfast and Jenny Lewis will be around at some

Wonder what kind of tunes the NYI listen to in the locker room

I'm thinking it should be TAPS

I’ve been here for way too long and I can’t think of one time people here liked someone who writes about the team in any fashion. I’m sure Staple warned Kurz on the way out.

Just an oversight I presume but none of these guys hold a candle to Stan The Maven Fischler.

Good point. Don’t poke the bear. Although to be fair, I think he’s sleeping.

It took Barry Trotz 20 years to make it past the 2nd round in the NHL as a head coach.
That's because he didn't have wingers

Actually I have a friend who worked in the NHL and most people there think that one of the only reasons Chris L. had any type of a notable NHL position is literally because of his last name.
Nepotism baby. It's the only reason some kids have anything

I’m with you on that but I’m not sure that’s a good thing. The Isles are solidly mediocre when healthy and certainly better than what they’ve recently shown.

I hope a minor uptick in performance doesn’t give Lou delusions of grandeur.
I think trading UFA guys for picks is in order no matter what unless they are actually in spot at deadline. It’s a bad tailspin now but they have their games with pens and caps still on horizon, they might need to win them all in regulation but those games are going to determine if they have any shot at all.

Just want to make sure you don't forget. Seems you have a short memory and I doubt with all your investigation skills that you see me posting anything but Lou as president and not GM but I could be wrong.

Lou's journey is not over so "I TOLD YOU SO!!!!" is premature

Rare Dan Friedman W. I really think the biggest fault of this team was the Palmieri trade. Even though he was good during that playoff run, they needed to shoot higher.

To be fair, they tried to shoot higher… Panarin, Stone. During the ECF runs I don’t see anyone they really had a chance on that they missed.

Maybe this offseason they could’ve pushed more on Debrincat? Or, Tarasenko last year, instead of re-signing Palmieri?

Really it was losing Toews, Leddy, and Eberle and expected Greene, Chara, and Parise to pick up the slack. Parise's been excellent, but that's besides the point.

Everything Lou has done since the two playoff runs has been horrendous.

I think looking back this is where in hindsight you just say he had to find a way to get the job done.

Haven’t seen that Phoenix is back on the road, that’s pretty crazy because they also toured last year as well.

I’m actually in the process of moving to Providence (speaking of the dictator, Lamoriello & Sons hometown!). I’ll get a better selection of shows and venues there plus the proximity to Boston will be nice.

Starts in Asia in March then bouncing all over Europe and Scandinavia. Hit west coast of U.S. in Aug.

Dates in Sept

3. Toronto--Budweiser Stage
5. Boston--mgm music hall at fenway
8. Philly--Mann Center
9. NYC--World's most famous arena MSG

Hockey towns one and all!

At least we’re one of the active teams on tankathon now, I can continually hit the button and pretend we somehow get gifted Bedard
There's a better chance of making the playoffs than that

It's crazy that only a few years ago I could not say anything that was less than glowing about
Lou without a huge backlash from the "In Lou we Trust" crowd. Fast forward and it looks
like he got more than a capacity crowd at the UBS center willing help him pack his bags. Not that its true, but radio stations up here have discussed the idea that if Lou is sent packing, Bergevin's name is in the mix. I hope NOT
Burgerman was genuinely the best damn man to wheel and deal, and most of his trades worked. i'd be in for his wild ride more than Lou's.

Seriously that man was able to fleece some teams. Bergevins biggest problem however is that he really just gambled a ton on players, but in no way did bergevin forget to get skill players for his team.

thank god palmieri had that playoff run, because he had a whopping TWO before the playoffs started

seriously that trade could've been incredibly ugly. thank god the devils chose some random dude over Dean.

Well, we wait for three years for him to do something, instead of running it back with Snows roster other than JGP and Varly. Oh, that’s right he then fired the only thing making the team viable.

The problem is that Lou genuinely didn't do much. this is a bigger problem than just "HA, I WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG!", because he wasn't able to do anything.

He took his shot. Trading for Pageau and Palmieri brought the team as close as anyone could get to the Cup. I stand by those moves all day every day. Last season is a write off because of the uncontrollable circumstances

This is the year Lou must answer for. He fired Trotz, replaced him with a rookie, did not clear cap space to add talent, banked on what he had and so far it's been a failed season. He outsmarted himself by dismissing Barry and as my Mom used to say "you made your bed, now go lie in the mess you made"
