Blackballed him by continually keeping him up on the NHL roster? He played more than half the season last year.
I always took that as their attempt to showcase him. They couldn’t find a taker via trade, so here we are waiving him over Nikita Soshnikov and Ross Johnston.

Like I said, not complaining because I am firmly of the belief that all of these players are well below average and make little to no difference on the outcome of anything.

That's not really blackballing though, but it ultimately doesn't matter. I agree with the latter.

Time for change lmao? He doesnt play! Lets start that change with Palms, Bailey, Beau an JGP.
Better to waive Pulock and Barzal, two homegrown players Lou invested a LOT of money in and are underperforming by a large margin.

When a player goes on waivers does that immediately open up a spot on the roster or does the spot open when the player clears/is claimed?
Waivers take until 12 noon the next day, then the results are announced. At that time either he’s claimed or can be sent down to the AHL. That’s when the roster spot is opened.

Bellows will get claimed for sure.

Another great Islanders 1st round pick. I’m not gonna get too crazy because I did want to draft him but just the development of his diet absolutely sucks. Bellows was an absolute monster when he played in the worlds breaking the USA goal scoring record.

Such a shame because he’s got the body and the talent. He’s got a ridiculous shot. He should’ve been at the very least a third line guy who can score you 20 goals and play physical.

No shot Lamoriello blackballed Bellows. If that was the case, Aho wouldn’t even have sniffed this team after getting a DUI in Sweden. He’s just calling a spade a spade

I bet Bellows doesn’t even get claimed. He’s not NHL material right now.

He was offered over a million dollars to play here this season when he could've easily have been non-tendered. That's some blackballing!
Good point, the fact that Bellows got 1.2M guaranteed is insane and speaks to how much Lamoriello wanted Bellows to succeed.

The fact is, he just didn’t.

So it’s interesting timing time. It’s speculative but the rationale for the Bellows waive is to bring Salo back up. But Because they put him on waivers today means Aho plays tonight. When if they put bellows on waivers yesterday Salo could be here for the rags game tonight. Yesterday was a nothing day so not sure why it didn’t happen yesterday.

Because Lou had an outing to the petting zoo with the seniors club?

Salo, or possibly Simon Holmstrom. But yeah, Aho is in again tonight. Tomorrow we’ll know what will happen with Bellows.
