No doubt NYI was dangling the 13th overall + for DeBrincat, but Chicago clearly was after a top ten pick so I'm curious to see who GMLL checks down to now.

How on earth does NOBODY beat that offer????
Nobody wants to play Russian Roulette with him for the last year on his contract. If DeBrincat hits free agency next year his price will be north of $9M/yr. Either the Sens try to extend him now or they will be moving him at the TDL.

Maybe he's focused on a D trade and Johnny hockey as a FA?

What is P. Kane worth?

Much like the Fiala deal to the Kings I have to believe the Blackhawks really wanted a top-10 pick and didn't shop around.

The only other thing is that teams did not want to have to give a 5'7 player 9M+ on a long term deal a year from now.

Very few other explanations.
Curious how many goals this smurf scores without Patty Kane dishing him the puck.

Duh, but Kane has a full NMC so without his approval the Blackhawks can't do a thing.
Funny thing is I’d bet Kane waives it for us for whatever that’s worth, I’d imagine Kane would get traded but Hawks also need to move Toews also because as professional as he is there is no way he would be happy being last man standing there 🤣

It's pretty simple, 13th + 65th + 2023 3rd is not as good as 7th + 39th + 2023 3rd

Are you being sarcastic or is this a real reply? Because I'm pretty sure the point was not that our picks were lower (and thus obviously less value), but that as a package we could've offered some other combination of assets (more/higher future picks, Wahlstrom, Raty, etc) and beaten that deal.

Having a hard time figuring how we don't beat that deal. Yikes.

the 7 OA pick was the kicker - Ottawa definitely had someone they target with that 7th pick not that difficult.

It's a real reply - they obviously like someone better than Wahlstrom and Raty with the 7th pick.

To use your expression, read between the lines - Lou missed out.

Maybe he waives to play with Barzal.
The contract is a hold up... it maybe more complicated since Hawks will have to retain or get a third team involved.

Don't overlook the obvious. Rookie GM with ridiculous support staff sells Hagel for two borderline 1st picks and is labeled smart. Believes his press clippings and announces to the world he is open for business. Collects 7OA in a marginal draft year for a 40 goal scorer
A few years ago many on this board and in the NHL were laughing at Joe Sakic as he was trying to move Dueschene. Now he has a Cup.

Player accept all the time. Wouldn’t be surprised if Kane would waive for another team. Chicago is rebuilding obviously.

Unless Kane is content with all his cups and accomplishments and doesn’t have any desire to win more with another club.
