I think Lou cpuld of adjusted this team to have high skill players. He should never signed or traded for JP. BEAU should been let go a year ago before he got stuck with that contract. He should of had cap space for high end free agents. And he should of traded Valarmov unless that's a unmoveble contract as well. If nobody is movable than everyone is overpaid.
If Barzal is using Colorado and Carolina as examples then he is calling for a team that skates fast and whips the puck around quickly and without it skipping off the tape or going out of the offensive zone, not just a defenseman who mimics the role of a 4th forward on the attack.

I swear with my hand on a bible, our guys don’t have the mitts or the wheels to pull off what Barzy is calling for. I recognized it last season when I noticed teams like the Kings, Flames, Wild, Blue Jackets skating past us. And that had more to do with our players’ own limitations than saying “well we had Chara and Greene out there, what do you expect”?”

I think the problem is that in Lou's mind, he thinks the team as is can compete and duplicate the 2 covid season cup runs. That's where the folly lies

NHL.TV is a clown show for those of us outside NA. My experience wasn't as brutal as many. My major problems were: 1. The game kept pausing. I had to watch the entire thing with my remote in hand to press play. It started right up again so doubt it's a streaming issue. There's no indicators of what's happening. Super annoying...2. They cut to commercial right away. There's no send off from announcers which also means you miss skirmishes and replays and a lot of comments from Butchie and Brendan. 3. No android TV app. Guess this is a minor complaint.

Quality was good and streaming from my cell to nvidia shield it was smooth and not jittery. Guess nvidia can copy the refresh rate from the phone so that was better than in the past. The arena sound was too loud though and often I couldn't hear Butchie or Brendan because of it. They better get their shit together....it's amazing 2022 and we are subjected to this, at a price increase nonetheless.

Indeed, and the problem is they can't. Two shortened seasons fit this team perfectly. They could play heavy and get away with it, but they can't now. Too little skill, too little speed and too many bad contracts.

Yeah it's super annoying. You left out no intermission reports either. Amazing that streaming only gets worse in this day and age! What price are you paying in Korea? It's still $99 annually here in Hong Kong.

Despite the passage of several years, our team this year is not all that different than the teams of the prior 3 years.

Time will tell whether the naysayers comments (including Rags fans) had any merit regarding our runs being the product of COVID delays, restrictions, top notch coaching and catching lightning in a bottle rather than having a highly talented squad reaching their potential.

I never wrote that negative take off completely but like any fan I basically ignored it. It’s only beeen one game, or more accurately one season plus one game, but I’m starting to have my doubts.

If the team sucks this year it really has nothing to do with the three seasons they were great. People can talk all they want about catching lightning in a bottle and COVID but fact of the matter is this team won a playoff round for three consecutive years with the first one not even being during COVID.

They were a good team. You don't get lucky for three seasons straight.

I love "Member of Lou's Orchestra"

He used that crap on me last March at the Q & A he had with the season ticket holders. I'm actually surprised they selected my question at all and they used it to lead off the session.

I asked "what is your plan for the Islanders to get younger, faster, more skilled, when what we have now is a team full of 2nd and 3rd liners?" Then he asked me if I liked music and he went into his orchestra baloney.

Lou's orchestra has too many woodwinds and not enough brass.

I think what is missing here is the cap space was there for multiple free agents who just decided not to sign here.

Tavares, Panarin, Gaudreau, and Stone.

All three had offers and all three went elsewhere. The Pageau trade was absolutely fine and he has been a key piece for this team. Absolute warrior who has been a perfect fit. The only downside with him is due to his playing style he does pay through some nasty injuries.

Beauvillier I do agree with you. Looking back I would much rather still have Toews or Leddy than Beauvillier. I know the years likely don't match up. Again though, Lou seemed to have been offering Beauvillier as the main piece for Stone and he just chose Vegas of NYI.

I do agree Varlamov should have been moved so we could have had room for another forward.

Bottom line is free agency cannot be relied upon. This teams needs to be drafting fantastic. They are not the Rangers, Toronto, or in a warm/low tax state like Florida.

Lou's orchestra might have too many woodwinds, but they don't have an oboist, as they were out of tune all night on Thursday.
Personally, I think Lou's orchestra has too many violists. Who plays the melody? Who plays the harmony? Who ever it is, the Isles don't have one.

Experienced this too - and it f$%&ing drove me up the wall!!!

They just kept cutting to the commercial breaks like right after the ref blew the whistle. Missed sooooo much of all the stuff going on after whistles were blown.

Definitely hope they tend to that. Just an awful, awful trait.

The transition in Canada to SportsnetNow isn’t any better… garbled audio, app that constantly freezes, start the game and you just get the spinning cursor thing for minutes at a time, can’t pick from home and away anymore (and never get the MSG feed), and the picture quality is like looking through gauze.

The NHL has completely f***ed up what was once a great streaming product everywhere.

I only had a monthly option of 23,000 won from the Google play app. I heard some people were able to get an annual choice on the PC. It was 19,000 won last year, but the dollar is killing the won so could be the reason it's increased.
