Alot more, to the point that its not even worth it. They would 100% ask for Dobson, and thats a trade im not making.
Yeah agreed. Thats why i was throwing spare parts together. If we trade Dobson, lets just rebuild the whole damn team.

They can ask for Dobson, but the Islanders aren't alone in refusing to part with a player like that.

Islanders aren't trading Noah or Sorokin, and about the only reason the Flames would be moving him is to offer Johnny G that extra 1-2 million and get him signed before FA.

I would offer just about everything else to net a 25-year old kid who has 334 points in his last 355 regular season games though.

The Devils have too many holes. They are on the tail end of rebuild patience. However, they can improve next season, but doubtful they make the playoffs. Acquiring Chychrun now is too early of a move. By the time the Devils advance their position in the standings, he's probably on year 2 or 3 of the 3 years remaining on his deal before UFA. That deal makes no sense for them. Same for OTT.

The Devils have 2 holes, goaltending and a number 1 defenseman. Fill just one of those and they are a playoff team. Fill both and they can get to the 2nd round of the playoffs.

I disagree. It's the perfect team that looks like they can put it together, but will fall short, even with those additions. While the G UFA class has numerous options, lots of question marks on who and how to commit to any of them. Most are risky bridges. Unless NJD trade for Gibson, Hellybuck, or Bob.

Murray and that contract????

Not only does he have a 6.25 cap hit for two more years, he is OWED 15 million in cash.

Dude has been dreadful the last 3 seasons.

Desperation is really making Varlamov look extremely attractive about right now....

It also effects his livelihood. His life could completely change as a result.
Um, not really. They're not gonna send an Olympic goalie to the front, nor will he suffer in poverty. The only thing he is risking is having a hard time getting outta there. I suppose he'll have to make a serious detour to leave, but that is not really a problem

These players lead sheltered lives, even in Russia.

If Varly goes, then who do you cover with as goalie #2?

You talk to Korn and Greco first. Let them pick a goalie who they believe they can help be a solid number two for this team.
Sure, that's obvious. I am asking those that want to trade Varly, what is THEIR plan for goalie #2.

Another side note here, when Varly hits UFA, he's a 35er contract. His salary/cap hit will decrease by about 30-50% on any team. Max term he will likely see is 2 years too. So, absent this season, he will fall in line w/other backup/goalie salaries in the 2.5-3.25 range.
