At the end of the day, they are human and likely want to see family that some haven't seen for 12+ months. It's not like their contracts state they can't travel home in the offseason, even if the organization asked Russian players to stay stateside over the summer doesn't mean the players are contractually obligated to listen.

I'd be shocked if Varlamov is moved at the draft or this offseason with the possibility of Sorokin getting stuck in Russia lingering around.
Understood but at what price? You see your family and friends for a short time only to be snatched up to serve 2 years of your life in a military that is in the middle of a massive invasion? I would just facetime.

These guys were pretty good…

Rumor has it these guys have already been deployed…

I think Bailey would be dealt for picks and prospects, while Beauvillier would need to be dealt for a roster player. Agree with you about Varlamov being dealt before the draft too, partly because you want that deal done so you can get a backup via free agency ASAP.
Not sure Josh is getting anything meaningful back if it is for draft pick(s).

But I think we can agree that Varlamov would get the highest draft compensation...

Agreed. Bailey will be a salary dump. I doubt Lou will want to bring back salary in this case. Likely looking for picks/prospects.

This is where I think you're wrong. If he gets traded my money would be on him not going to a contender.

Josh Bailey is obviously a very nice guy and quality human being. That said what NON-contending team is going to give out anything of decent value for a 5M cap hit for a 33 year old vet who isn't a leader and doesn't shoot.

If you were a team like the Coyotes right now...Given all the options you have on the market where you could trade your picks and use your cap space (and even for a veteran), Josh Bailey wouldn't be close to the top options you'd explore.

Hmm... What reason did Seattle have to pick Eberle in the expansion draft? Let's not act like there was a huge difference at all in the two.

I'm all in for Poolparty for a 2nd if that is the true asking price.

How? I mean just how? Which one of these are you completely overlooking...

  1. That he's an RFA and will be getting at least 2.5-3M/year.
  2. That he's arbitration eligible.
  3. That he's never scored more than 15 goals (or 36 points).

A 2nd round pick is a very good asset and ~3M of cap space is as well. Parise cost zero assets and only 1M of cap space and even now is at least double the player "pool party" is.

I'd sooner trade a 3rd for the rights to Forsberg and try to sign him.

We all know this guys rep. but I dont think Varly will be moved

You should get an infraction for reposting this.

WTF? How in the world is that even remotely a comparison?

Seattle HAD to take someone off our unprotected list and Eberle was easily the most talented.

They also gave up ZERO to get him.

With Bailey someone would have to look at all the other 33 year old 5M players out there, decide Bailey is more valuable than them, and then give up assets to acquire them.

They wouldn't have to give up anything of value, and he is only owed 7 million in cash and is still a 50 point player who can help on both special teams.

Yes, if it is to get anything back of value it would need to be a contending team and even then I doubt it gets much.....if it is a pure cap savings trade (IMO more likely), you aren't getting anything back in real value and yes, I could see a team with cap space or a non-contending team biting

I like to say if Josh Bailey gets traded; nothing more than a B prospect or anything higher than a 4th round pick is going in either direction....

Unless of course it is a "hockey trade" where a similarly flawed and wrong side of 30 (close in AAV) player is swapped....

FWIW Bailey was tied for 29th in points for RWs. Not elite, not terrible, just pretty solid.

(Ilya Mikheyev, who I guess we're replacing him with, was ranked 44th)

He's not returning a first or anything, but he'd return a couple picks or a pick and a prospect I'd think.

Varlamov probably holds the most value out of the likely to be traded pieces.

Until Sorokin is in the states, we are not trading Varlamov. can't do it. Now THIS shit comes into the fold and also f***s over any chance of the isles gaining assets on a goalie with 1 year left.

But who is saying teams would have to give up much of anything to get Bailey? Seattle did not HAVE to take Eberle though... Right? They could have taken a low, cost controlled asset. Instead, they decided to grab Eberle who had a pretty hefty contract for what he offers.

You have to think 12 OA and Johnson plus another prospect and roster player.

If so, does this make Gavrikov available?
12th overall and a fifth overall from last year should be more than enough without having to add all that much.

Kent is in the top 15 or so overall specs in the entire league…

gonna be a damn quiet offseason lol

y'all get played every single year that we'll do something and we end up doing nada every year. its actually hilarious hearing our pleas to constantly improve, but we'll end up with the same stuff, and keeping Bailey for the sake of game #1000 with the isles. now we have an added fear of losing sorokin to russia just because of Radulov. Hate being a fan of this team. you think you've sunk rock bottom, and then rock bottom comes its face again over and over again. if we lose Sorokin, toss the towel, we'll be 32nd and picking 4th
