here
watch his skating: its awful. i understand why you'd like him, but it sucks. dude looks like a really early version of ValNuke
So Puljujarvi went from having very good skating ability to not, in less than five years at age 24?

"Jesse Puljujarvi is an excellent skater. He has the balance and power in his skating stride to fight through checks and take the puck to the net."

"Puljujarvi is a strong, powerful forward with an outstanding burst of speed and first step."

"He is a powerful skater with excellent offensive instincts, puck skills and determination."
"His skating is NHL grade right now, and often closed off opponents in possession on lateral distance plays most won’t even attempt. "

"A strong skater who can blast past the opposition in full speed."

No still on the smaller side of hockey operations departments, but you look at some of the titles some of these teams have (Toronto especially) and you are left asking “so what exactly do you do here?”
Isles hockey ops dept is Lou. 😀Everyone else is there for Lou’s amusement

I think they are a bit delusional. Girard is not landing them a 2C. They have been lurking around JT Miller, but they already may have their own homegrown 2C in Newhook.

They could try to resign Kuemper, but I think they may find it best to move on… he did the job, but I don’t think they can expect that again with his health and inconsistency.

Moving Girard for Varly - frees money up to resign Nichuskin.

The deal should be looked at like -
Nichuskin and Varly
For
Kuemper and Girard

Then the extra $ left in their cap situation can address another need
But it also opens up a hole on defense, and it sounds like they don't expect to re-sign Manson (who might be returning to Anaheim). If they're confident that one of their LD can play the off side then it makes sense to hold onto them all.

I'm all in for Poolparty for a 2nd if that is the true asking price.

He at least brings something consistently to the table (excellent PK ability) similar to Grabner with better all-around skill.
Hopefully he’s more a accurate shooter than Grabner.

No he's more Grabner than he is Grabovski.

Big guy who can wheel. Hes got a good shot and uses his size well. Not a top line guy by any means but an amazing PKer and a very solid middle 6 player imo.
Definitely closer to Grabner. I wouldn’t say he is amazing PKer, he’s a dangerous PKer because of his speed. If there is a fumbling puck along the blue line and he can chip it forward, he’s gone.

There’s going to be a long list of teams looking to acquire his services, NYI might be better off trying to mold Beauvillier into the same role.

Isles should target Rasmus Sandin, he is giving the Leafs a lot of pushback for a contract because he doesn't have a clear path.
Seeing him almost nightly here I'd pass. to soft.

Mikhayev is a 30-40 pt guy. He is the answer? What am i missing. Admittedly i havent watched him play.
Being from Toronto area, he has more potential than that I believe. With the core four he did not see a lot of pp time even on the second unit

Folks are hoping his speed = more scoring opportunities. On the Leafs there wasn’t really opportunities for him on their Top 6. There might be on the Island. However at the price his agent is allegedly asking, $4.75-$5.5M/yr I’m looking for someone with more of a resume than Mikheyev.

Mikheyev has stone hands like Grabner, very little finish despite the blazing speed.

I think some people here just want to play with new toys rather than get better. If we are replacing Beau and Bailey for similar players with smaller contract I am for it, we need top end talent for sure which isn't easy to get at all and I understand but I am done with trying to plug and play second, third, and fourth liners to see if they fit on the first line. (it hasn't worked yet). Our goal is win the cup not just make the playoffs just to be eliminated every season.

How do you think any hockey media gets inside info? No one has direct lines to GMs, so your comment is pretty dumb and I'm not sure what your point is.

Unless you think all media, even the guys at TSN, are just spouting BS.

My comment was anything but dumb.

And anyone who understands what Lou Lamoriello's modi operandi is with respect trade, signing or draft rumors (which is just about everyone at this board) understands exactly why my comment was anything but dumb.

Certainly wasn’t dumb, but either these media outlets are straight up lying or someone leaked something.

No finish? Forget it! We already have Beauvillier to fill that function, and at $1m/yr less than Mikheyev’s asking price

The leaks probably originate from the other party involved. Pretty sure if someone from the Islanders is the source of the leak he is eventually found out and sent packing.

That’s the thing, regardless of who is the one leaking it doesn’t really matter. Lou can’t control what other teams staff leaks out, and sure there are stories Lou threatened to squash trades if info leaked.

Great and all but if he literally is willing to cut off his noise to spite his face because someone leaked that they may be moving player(s), then he’s not qualified to be a GM anymore.

Huh? You don’t think an underling leaking something that he/she wasn’t asked to do to the media isn’t insubordination?
