Who did Kurtz mention in his athletic article as D targets this offseason?

Chychrun, Girard, Provorov, Dillon, Reilly, Hague, Soucy, and Pettersson on LD. He mentioned some RD if we have to be creative as well.

With a list that wide I guess he’s hoping to hit a target. Clearly Lou won’t help his reporting.

His deal is an anchor. If he gets traded for anything you should be happy to drive him to the airport.

Incorrect, his deal is fine and is in line with what players at his production level get.

Here's a recent post from me detailing why his contract is fine.

He makes sense for half the league. This isn't directed at you necessarily, but do you guys who love to say he has no value ever bother to look at deals around the league? His contract is right in line with other guys who have similar or worse production. (Hornqvist, Eberle, Schwartz, Saad, Silfverberg, Zuccarello, Oshie, etc.) His deal is $5M AAV for two more years and he's owed less money than his cap hit, that's great for teams who want to save money or who need veterans around.

The return in a trade won't be amazing, but he won't be difficult to move if Lamoriello wants to move him.

Can you provide any evidence to the contrary?

I have no problem with him being traded.

Chara (because why not he said)
Provorov (I kinda like that idea tbh)
Soucy
Chychrun (I really want him also even at the cost of #13)
Girard
Dillon
Reilly
Hague
Pettersson

Also mentioned some RHD options like TDA, and petry, possibly trading mayfield.

I really like the idea of Hague, I'd pair him with Pulock and stick Pelech with Dobson. Salo with Mayfield on the 3rd pair. If Mayfield gets traded then I do like Hutton, but we could find a veteran stop gap to replace him.

I like the idea of Provorov and I did read he was available. Flyers want cap room to be active in free agency.

I think Girard is the most likely option. Colorado needs to clear cap space, and his $5M cap hit is perfect for them to clear. Love his game too, very young and a steady dman.

Dillon is likely too. Won't cost much either.

Provorov will cost an arm and a leg especially since we're division rivals, and Chychrun will be very expensive regardless. Who even knows if Arizona wants to move him anymore.

Incorrect!!! lmao, no bud I'm right, you will see.

Even if I grant you that his deal is in-line with those other guys...so what?? Palmeri and Pageau are in-line with him too. Who the heck is calling Lou asking about them??

Hornqvist was the only guy on ur list that was traded recently...after playing a key role in winning Pittsburgh 2 cups!! And his trade didn't result in any cap relief, which is what we need.

Believing that Bailey won't be difficult to move this offseason is just typical rose tinted glass wearing Isles Fan wishful thinking. Varlamov is going to be the one to go. I don't know how else to say it. I hope I'm wrong.

I don't know if you can trade a buyout contract, but if you can, how about something like:

Varlamov and our 2022 5th round pick to Edmonton (Edmonton has no 2nd, 3rd or 4th this year) for Broberg, Edmonton's 2023 2nd and the one year of Andrej Sekera's $1,500,000 cap hit? Broberg has two years left on his ELC.

If you can't trade the Sekera contract, make it Broberg and the 2023 2nd.

Avs fans seem to think they’ll keep Girard and move one of their LD to the right side. They’ve also floated him as a trade possibility but only if they can get a second line center. So basically they’ll probably keep him.

IN:
Gates Orlando (fmr long time Dir. of Amateur Scouting for Devils)

AnalyticsFrank Gardner
AnalyticsAlex Martynov
AnalyticsTaran Singleton
AnalyticsSal Tornambene
AnalyticsKelly Keogh
AnalyticsSamuel Forstner

Out:
Dennis Maxwell (Amateur scout since 2013)
Matti Kautto (European scout since 2013)
Ken Gernander (Fmr long time Head Coach in Hartford, Isles Amateur scout since 2018)

What also might be a change from last year:
Trent Klatt is now Dir of Amateur Scouting (Kautonen listed as head amateur scout)

Overall the Isles hockey operations department is still much smaller compared to other NHL teams.

i really do not want business with Puljujarvi. dude skates poorly, holds a stick poorly, and really doesn't look amazing.
He's young, has upside, good size, scores at a decent enough clip, drives play and likely won't cost a lot. Depending on what happens this summer, he could be a nice fit in our middle 6 .

If I were Lou, I'd be interested.
