A bit of a bummer to see the contenders all get better, but standing pat was the right move. It didn't make sense to pay a massive price for a top rental given our position and shallow assets. The team is also healthy and there's not really any black hole on the roster that would readily be improved by trading a 2nd-4th rounder for some other piece.

The biggest improvement the team needs to make is on the PK. I think Roy and Lou probably think that improvement needs to come internally (after all, most of these same players were pretty solid on the PK the previous years) and it wasn't worth trading assets for a marginal upgrade there.

Let's make a run and see how far this group can go this year. Will be a tricky cap situation this offseason,. but adding a full run of picks, or making a major add by trading the pick, is all on the table.

No moves for us. Not bad honestly. Keep the first and let Roy evaluate the boys. I’d like to see Ishakov and Maggio at some point.
Seems crazy to me that we didn’t grab someone given the prices. This feels like the cheapest deadline day prices in a while.

I think both along with Dufour could be seen as guys who could help soon here, even down the stretch. Bortuzzo coming back gives them 8 D also now. Also have Gauthier in AHL as well.

My only disappointment, is that Lou just did nothing with Wally. Now he's going to walk away for nothing. Still think we could have swapped a change of scenery youngster for him

Yes. They’re also retaining some salary for 6 years. Not horrible thought
They soooo bad, they need talent in the worse way. They have cap to retain some salary. I feel bad for the shark fans, it's going to be a long rebuild.

Maybe they had lines in the water, but it takes two to tango.

I still think despite the good run, the Isles are the same group with a loaded first line now that has been the reason but if they do make the playoffs , that line will find it tougher to create offense with the others team basically looking to shut them down with no real secondary scoring. I think a player like a Pinto would have been a smart move if he was available if not I think they should have added another Defenseman

Not surprised or disappointed at all. Happy Lou kept our picks in stead of dealing them for players who don't matter much either way. Except Vegas and Florida none of the other teams really improved that much so the Isles haven't exactly lost any ground. If anything, a good PKer would've helped, but so be it.

How can you even mention Mike Milbury and Lou Lamoriello in the same sentence when it comes to GM'ing?

So f***ing dramatic
Dramatic? Reading comprehension will tell you that he’s referring to them as polar opposites. “Funny that we’ve had two GMs that are so different”
