My dream is to make a run, make the finals against Vegas and shove their cap circumvention up their asses in a 4-game sweep . . .

A bit confusing why Lou did nothing. With the recent run you would have thought he would have made a low level trade to bring in a little depth.

We really have nothing of value to sell other than Nelson and a retained JGP and we all know Lou does not get rid of anyone

Today standing pat was the right move. I have my concerns about our bottom 6 and our bottom pair defense. The recent good times for the team are largely due to Palmieri being on a heater, the first line, and a more active defense. Plus limiting our opponents time with the puck. I’m not sure if Palms keeps this up the rest of the way…my gut says no, and I doubt there’s enough offense from the Cizikas and MacLean lines to carry us if teams key on L1.

Anyway, after 4 years of Lou saying he believes in this core, we are actually playing with house money now. A dollar and a dream baby.

Not too surprised or upset that we stood pat...

Yes, we needed a wing and help on the PK, but we just have to continue to play like we have the last 5 games (5-0)...

Best way to improve the PK is stay out of the box (7 power plays allowed in those 5 games- 2 PPG)

Outscored opponents 24-10 on this little run and surprisingly outshot them 147-126 and of course...

Sorokin (5-0), 2.00 GAA, .921 save pct (helping him by allowing only 25 shots per game)

We are right there for one of the last 3 playoff spots:

GP/PTS
6. Flyers 64/74
7. Red Wings 62/72
8. Lightning 64/72

9. Islanders 62/70
10. Capitals 61/67

Just let it ride with what we got......

A lump of coal, just like July 1st every year. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.

Feeling good about the decision to stand pat. There should be lots of interesting names out there in the summer so I think Lou will strike then.
Something that occurred to me. VGK now has Hertl and you figure they'll try to extend Mantha. Will there be room for Marchessault or do they let him walk? Mentioning him because of the Roy connection and he's been discussed already as a UFA.

This would make a ton of sense and I could see it happening. Were you the one who mentioned Berggren in DET? There might be some issues there with him about re-signing and DET also would like some size up front. Not sure if we'd need to add something, but he seems like a candidate for that kind of swap. Not really thinking this would be a move for this year - more for the future - so could happen later.

Berggren would have been a prime example, yes.

Like, was this deadline the opposite of paralysis by analysis? Like, did everyone make moves suggested by AI & their own metrics? Bizarre volume.

The 2024 Islanders Revenge tour: Beat the Canes, Rags and Leafs along the way.

I would have liked a little PK depth/4th liner so that Martin never sees the ice again, but I'm not crushed they didn't make a move.
I gave you a "like" partly for the content of your post and partly because I see you have 414 posts since 2005. I admire your self-control. You should change your name to "E.F. Hutton". ;)
