Can't believe there hasn't been a 404 Error yet

Oh that's an actual deadline day thing.

Expect to be offline Friday around lunch.

Apparently he just made vague references but nothing concrete. I'm not an IB fan so I didn't follow too closely but some people here were excited about whatever he was posting a few days back.

And yet IB is Bob McKenzie compared to Eklund, who is a HF Boards favorite.

The Islanders were also "clearing space" to sign an already agreed to deal with Kadri (who BTW would be a nice 2C right about now but his contract is scary).

Sabres trade Mittlestadt?

Sure he’s not a #1C but he leads the team in points and has the best +/- on a sh!t team at +12. He’s on track for 67 points and has been gradually increasing his scoring year over year. As an impending RFA he’s also somewhat cost controlled.

I guess Buffalo is happy with their top 2 centers and are doubling down on their top 4 Dmen with the Byram acquisition.

I just see it as yet another continued and further delayed rebuilding effort. It may work but I’d be unhappy as a Sabres fan.

Same Bob McKenzie who said the Islanders were the front runners to land Panarin?
Pretty much a done deal he said. I’ll never forgive him for that shit.

I’m convinced he was doing a favor to get Panarin more money for an agent

They have four left-hand defenseman now. They reportedly view Byram as a potential core piece.

Mayfield + Wahlstrom + Engvall for Samuelsson.

I can dream right?

My guess is they didn’t want to pay him the $5-6M he’s going to probably going to get on a long term deal. Take Byram at <$3M.

Maybe they feel they can replace his spot a bit easier than finding a Byram at that price for a d-man?

Let’s put it this way, BUF ain’t making the playoffs next year either.

So far FLA got Tarasenko at a discount (with salary retained by OTT) because he only wanted to be in Miami. VGK making big deals and then extending guys who want to play there. Ditto for COL. NYR made a big deal. Any concern this is a league where you may be at a competitive disadvantage if you're not a desirable geographic destination or an original 6 team?

It took you 18,338 posts to finally figure that out? Fast learner . . .

This is very true and has been true for a long time. The top 5-6 destinations control the player movement in the league. Sure, there's the odd exception, but if say the Rangers want a player, they will get that player 90% of the time.

There are some people here who should consider a switch to being a Sabres fan. Always selling, always collecting assets, never winning; exactly what they’ve been dreaming the Islanders do.

They've seen enough of him to know what he's about and they may not want to do that long term and watch him go back to mediocrity again. They might be wrong though, as they seem to be a lot.

I wouldn't buy too much into what Lou tells the press. He pretty much says the same thing with different phrasing.

Saw this player PK for Dallas and I am quite impressed with his effort and smarts -
Ty Dellandrea - he is only 23rd years old, not a goal scorer though. Could he be a low trade target without giving up too much?

Also highly interested in Dallas's LD prospect Lian Bishsel. This one may cost a bit more.

Zegras will be a good trade target, should he ever become available.

I'll take a depth defenseman.
Bortuzzo is close to returning , Bolduc recalled - thats our depth . Roy seems to like Aho playing right side.

Blues willing to retain on Buchnevich is surprising considering he has a year left . Wouldnt mind being in the mix for him but that would require stl to retain close to 2.5 (whallys .874 + deadline space 2.487)

I also believe that we are not looking for defencemen. If anything is a need, for depth, it is goaltending. Hopefully Lu has something up his sleeve, like Corey Schneider? IDK.

I followed Buchnevich and I find him too inconsistent for my liking. He has seemed to improve on that this year, but seeing that it is a contract year, I wouldn't give him much of a look.

I would like Granlund, 50% retained please. Mayfield on LTIR makes it happen.

Third string goaltender is not a deadline acquisition. And in the Islanders' case, not even necessary. Isles need to be carried by their goaltender. No third stringer is going to do that. If Sorokin and Varly go down, Isles are finished.

They´ve got center (and forward) prospects coming out of the ying yang.

And space simply must be made for Kulich ASAP.

After that, the likes of Östlund, Savoie, and then Wahlberg will come knocking.

I see all this bitching and moaning about who we missed out on, I'm glad we're standing pat. Changes need to be made and they are coming, but they will happen in the offseason. We need our picks, we need to replenish the kiddie pool.

Roy has the team humming, just ride the wave and maybe we make the playoffs where this team does have the ingredients for a Cinderella run.
