Contrary to the commentators on the main board, the Canes wouldn't be doing this if they didn't like the return. If the package was not up to Tulsky's snuff, they would just own-rental him. It's probably going to be in the young talent vein, however, but Dallas has drafted incredibly well over the years, so the fruits are particularly ripe and sweet over there.

If you can get Bischel you could move Orlov for a haul. Then all of a sudden you’ve got a left side of Slavin, Nikishin, Bischel going into next season and probably for many years to come

It does, and I just finished a post on the main boards that shows the net-net ins/outs of this won’t look catastrophic at the end of the day, but that’s not quite what I’m going for in the post you’re quoting.
In the post you’re quoting, I’m saying in the here and now Brock Nelson just went for what he did, so Tulsky better make damn sure he gets a hell of a lot more for Rantanen than the Isles did for Nelson.

That's their 1c basically. I still want stank. Realistically a extended rantanen brings maybe stank Robertson and a 1st. Gonna be a low ass first though if it's theirs.
I want guys in their early 20s who are grade A. And stank or Johnston (not happening) solves our 2c issue. Stank with svech will cover his size.
Until last night I wanted rantanen. After seeing him last night I never want to see him in na canes sweater again. I've never seen such worthless care noting play from a player that caliber.

Did you miss that the Islanders immediately flipped Kylington to the Ducks for future considerations? So obviously, either the “good prospect” or the “21st best prospect” (couldn’t tell you which one is Kylington) is not as big of a factor as you’re making it out to be.
Nelson got a (likely) late 1st, a 3rd two drafts from now, and a good prospect. If we can get Stankoven + Borque + 1st for Rantanen, that’s basically the same.

I listed good prospect twice, my bad. Editing a post sitting on the toilet at 5:30am on my phone, forgot to remove the first “good prospect” when going to the Athletic app to see where Wheeler ranked Ritchie. I’m not including Kylington at all.
Your second point is basically what I’m pushing against, though. “Basically the same” for Rantanen when compared to what Brock Nelson gets isn’t good enough.

Why? Both are upcoming UFAs, Nelson”s more valuable position (being a center) and is producing more than Rantanen over the last few months. Yeah, Rantanen has the higher potential, but if he IS a product of Makar/McKinnon, that’s something Dallas has to take into account as well.
