Aho!
If its not a impact roster player coming back hopefully its good enough assets to flip for something out there
Ok so he pockets an extra 4 million doing this deal with Dallas over Colorado from my rough calculations. i guess thats worth it?!
I think he thought Colorado would continue to negotiate like they did with Landeskog. Even with the potential threat of a trade, I'm guessing Rantanen/his agent never believed Colorado would go through with it.Ok so he pockets an extra 4 million doing this deal with Dallas over Colorado from my rough calculations. i guess thats worth it?!
It's more than that. Our $12.6 is equivalent to their $12M and it's cheaper to live in the Triangle versus Dallas.I think this means Rantanen realized his agent's idea of his worth wasn't happening in Colorado or Dallas, so he would be hoping for a huge number on July 1 or take one of the Carolina/Dallas offer.
And the lack of state income tax comes into play.
In a vacuum, I agree. But what we don't know is how much more Pettersson would have cost over Rantanen.I know we are waiting on the return for Rantanen, but with hindsight being 20/20, since we know our front office had the decision of choosing between Elias Pettersson (who is signed to a long term contract), and Mikko Rantanen (only 1 year left), I think it would've been better to pick EP40.
I understand why they picked Rantanen from a point producing perspective. He was the more consistent 100 point producing forward (not with us though), but the center depth we could've had improved with EP40 is now way more appealing since we were forced to trade Rantanen.

That's true. Especially since Vancouver was being very demanding with the returns for even Miller. Not too unreasonable to assume there was at least one bigger + to Necas than what we traded for Rantanen (Morrow maybe?).In a vacuum, I agree. Yeah, although at least he has the excuse of a toxic locker room this season due to the very bad blood between him and Miller. What's Rantanen's excuse with us? Personally, I think he never intended to sign with us long term (based on what we offered and him signing with Dallas) which made him mentally checked out and he had little motivation. Not with how EP has played
do u really think the Stars are giving us 1 of Robertson , hintz or johnson , anyone else is scrap garbageThey are getting a significant player or players off Dallas's roster, not prospects.
Well, that's major solace for us not trading for EP40 then.Don't want EP....SN panel suggested that he doesn't work hard/not committed to his craft (Vancouver guy said that). He would not fit here either.
u really think the Stars are giving up ,
