f*** we've seen this in this franchises own f***ing history. Kevin Weekes only ended up in New York and New Jersey because his agent flat out didn't f***ing tell him we offered a contract both times.
i remain firm in my belief that nino's agent oversold him on his value, f'd around when we had an offer on the table, and found himself without a seat when the music stopped. then took what was available.

So Dreger says Dallas has offered 12 million and won’t go any further and Rantanen camp wants 13 so I guess this isn’t gonna happen unless one of them budges

here's a crazy crazy crazy idea - what is rantanen's value, extended at 13 million per, with the canes retaining 1 million per? a million a year isn't much, fixes dallas' concern with upcoming cap needs, and should bump the return. but how much?

Part of me wants Carolina to say f*** it, offer Rantanen an 8x15, and reset the market. The Canes have the sort of cap space to do such a thing, and I think it would be amazing for the Canes to not be second-fiddle to teams like Vegas/Dallas/Florida/Rangers for free agents.

Overpay the guy that clearly has no interest in being here? Are you Rutherford?

Only if he actually seemed like he was capable of playing beyond an Andrej Nestrasil level here
