Speculation: Roster Building Thread XXXVII - 5 weeks until TDL

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Just because MTL/CGY jumped the market, doesn’t mean we need to rush and shop inefficiently. There are going to be more options for the 3rd line for better prices. Heck, I’d rather sign Eric Staal on the cheap and trade for someone like Jarnkrok. Maybe Zacha will be available at a good price.

As much as I don't like Larry Brooks I will reiterate what he said in that last article - do not rush into something and spend your assets on a short term fix. Wait until the right deal comes around. Guys become available all the time in this league, guys that you would think never would be. Go out and get some middle 6 guys, hope Kakko comes back healthy and go with that.

Barron is who I think this will revolve around too. At least as a name that isn’t being talked about as much. There clearly is not a spot for him here.

Right, sorry. Even still, I'm not including Nils in a move for a 3rd liner who needs a new deal.

I'd look at Tierney from Ottawa. Plays C or W. Kills penalties and has played with Goodrow in the past in SJ. He's also proven that he can produce when given the chance, so you can move him up the lineup if needed.

He'd also cost much, much less.

Tarmo seems like another guy that could go to the Habs if they are bringing in Bobrov. He didn’t come close to sniffing a game for the Rangers, even when they had Covid.

With the Habs being terrible he can step right in, and they can get a nice look at him before the season ends.

Alot of people have been saying that one this site, me included. Uncle Larry reads and steals ideas from these boards bc he is a moron. I hope youre not paying to read that bum

Yup, at this point there can be no doubt that he comes here and then regurgitates it back in the Post because he no longer has any sources within the Rangers organization.

Fair enough. Tierney would be cheaper to acquire and is a good option. But he is a UFA and his next contract could be prohibitive. It will be interesting to see what happens.

My real guess is, as usual, the Rangers do nothing and the league as a whole is boring. Also, all the rumor guys are just drumming up horseshit for clicks to get ad revenue.

Paquette? I would have to seriously pass. Lehkonen is a nice player but purely a 3rd/4th liner and not trading basically a 2nd and Robertson for him.

he will fit well on that team. They could seriously use his ability from the point even on the pp but I am not gifting them him for a guy like Lehkonen or even Chiarot (eventhough I could see GG and Drury wanting him...hope not).
