And now it’s 2022. Not saying Rangers should be favorites but need to see how they matchup before waiving the white flag (like I did after the Colorado games for example)

Not overpaying for JT Miller doesn't mean waiving the white flag.

Do we have any reason to doubt, based on the types of moves that have been made since he took over, that Chiarot and Lehkonen would be the types of moves that Drury would be looking to make going into the playoffs?

And if they are targets, it's going to cost a whole hell of a lot more than some of the proposals I'm seeing here.

Thank you again for proving my point with Chicago - they didn't rely solely on a goaltender to win them every game, did they?
oh my, the series of who shot last would win the games for the cup is something you are going to try to twist into your narrative?

again, if you believe this then lets just trade igor for some better 5v5 depth and celebrate since elite goaltending doesnt really mean anything.

I actually would keep Robertson and Barron before Kravtsov and Lundqvist. Robertson is a lefty, and the d looks pretty set to me, but if there is any opening, it will be on the left. Barron is an NHL ready, big, responsible FORWARD that has the ability to play all 3 positions with Center, our area of organizational weakness, as the primary spot. We need young, cost controlled potential centers more then another right handed D.

And lets face it, Krav is never going to play for this team. Montreal has Gorton already, if they hire Bobrov, might as well just make Krav's Habs jersey right then and there.

I don't know about fun.

The 2019 pre-covid team was fun.

This team is bittersweet... We do a lot of things well and most importantly, we win. But our average 5v5 gameplay is infuriating at times.

I actually don't think this team is "fun," at all.

It's horrendously frustrating. It plays really low-event, boring to watch games and then steals a win late.

Which is frustrating because the team shouldn't be built that way. It's not built around some ridiculous stable of defensive defensemen. It should be high-flying with the kids showing off their talent. Even the best defensive players they have (Fox, Trouba) are more known for their offense.

Guy, you keep proving my point with your examples don't get angry at me for that. You first showed me a time where an elite goaltender couldnt bring the cup all by himself who then won with an elite team in front of him, and then you started talking about a team that won 3 cups without relying solely on an elite goaltender.

The point is that this team needs to be more than the goalie, and the team needs to play better in front of him in order for them to have any chance of winning when it matters most. Stop with the hyperbolic "weLL jUst tRadE IgOR THen" stuff because that's not the point. Elite goaltending alone doesn't win championships. It's great to have, but that alone doesn't get you there.

Getting caught up here but why in the world would Chicago trade Dach? And is there any legit folks out there saying this?

It's connecting the dots - a report came out that Chicago wants to shake things up and named their untouchables and Dach wasn't on it. Combine that with possibly Chiarelli being made GM there, he's been terrible in the past and there is a feeling you can win a trade with him.

Then Larry Brooks mentioned Dach in an article revolving around a Nils package.

We would be lucky to get Caufield for Nils (plus). Getting him for a guy (that has proven zero) that has refused an assignment given to him by his team seems like a pipe dream to me.

Lehkonen isn't a rental. He is an RFA and his next contract will be a pretty good deal for the player he is. Would help make 2/3rds of a great 3rd line with Goodrow.

With Blais returning, does Lekhonen have a spot here?

Nils was always a defense-first guy. The offense in the SHL was something he added to his game later. The adjustments he is making now are very similar to the adjustments he made when he first moved up from SuperElit to SHL.

Too many people on this board talking about Nils without knowing a damn thing about him (meaning people like the one you are replying to).

We are giving up on Barron already? for pretty much a half year of Lehkonen. I could see Lehkonen being a nice fit here but thought Barron could eventually be a possible decent 3rd/4th liner for us.

I don’t know WTF the plan is with him tbh. He’s certainly showed he’s capable of playing responsible NHL hockey, has size/style of play that’s suited well for the postseason, and is better then some guys we’ve been playing in our bottom 6 currently.
He’s either part of the solution/future, or he’s not. They have to get him a spot and minutes.
If they aren’t going to do that, why the f*** is he on the taxi squad and not back in the A?
Where he’s proven to play well for the better part of 2 seasons already....
I don’t know, maybe Gallant just really favors vets on fwd with having kakko/LaF/Chytil all being young in the top 9?
But sooner or later, he’s going to have to make a choice.
It looks like he’s finally realizing that Jones-Schneider gives him the best 3rd pair he can put out there....
Maybe he’s just fighting the tide because McKegg/Gauthier are his guys? I have no clue. But hopefully he comes to the realization with Barron like he did with Jones, he’s just a better option in the bottom 6 if he wants better more consistent play..
