Why do you have a hate affair with Caulfield?

Because he isnt good and im not interested in giving up our best trade chip for him.

Ive already stated he cant skate, cant play defense, and as no physicality to his game. Besides that he would play 3rd line minutes and 2nd PP time. I think its a waste of using our best asset on a trade for someone like that. If you want to trade Kravy for him then fine bc kravy wont play for us again.

But why when i ask a serious question as to why a poster wants a specific player, ive just been told oh i must have a hate affair with him.

Nils was always a defense-first guy. The offense in the SHL was something he added to his game later. The adjustments he is making now are very similar to the adjustments he made when he first moved up from SuperElit to SHL.

Only on HF can a group of people say that one of the best defensive prospects outside of the NHL last year lost all of his trade value in 6 months of coming over to america and learning the north american style of play and ice.

He's undersized, sure, but he has an elite shot and goal scoring ability. He hasn't yet found his stride, but I could absolutely see him finding some room to shoot skating opposite of Artemi. If Kravy won't play again for the NYR, I want another high talent RW'er in trade. I think Caulfield could end up being a great player and phenomenal goal scorer in the NHL.

Lehkonen would be a great fit here.

Not giving up Nils or VK for him. My guess is something around Barron.
We are giving up on Barron already? for pretty much a half year of Lehkonen. I could see Lehkonen being a nice fit here but thought Barron could eventually be a possible decent 3rd/4th liner for us.

Why would the Canadiens want to trade possibly their only young bright spot on the wing who can score goals? Sure he's had a tough year but still has potential to score goals (last playoffs he really looked dangerous). If the Rangers want him it's going to have to hurt. Just trying to be objective here.

Besides Reunanen, Pajuniemi, Garand, Korczak, I can't think of many Rangers prospects I'd consider mid-level.

I'm not moving Nils for a rental, especially not a bottom 6 rental.
Nils is going to be a very good player in this league. Please do not sell him for a rental in a year where we are not legit contenders. I would trade him for a real shot at a cup but we are not there yet. Keep him.

Yes, you did. The greatest goalie to ever play couldn't drag a sub-par team across the finish line, and only won when he played on the powerhouse Red Wings. This team ain't that. This team has to be more than the goalie in order to win. Right now they aren't, and they aren't beating Carolina or Pittsburgh unless they are.
You are just manipulating at this point which is kind of disappointing. Comparing hasek in his buffalo runs to hasek in detroit is another whiff. Yes he won in detroit as a worse version of himself, but it all requires context of the teams as a whole. And that buffalo skater group isnt even in the same stratosphere as the nyr roster that is here right now. Context.

Chicago won with neimi in net, so I guess TB wins two cups with neimi instead of vaz? come on...

Thank you again for proving my point with Chicago - they didn't rely solely on a goaltender to win them every game, did they?

It’s not him, it’s the inexperience/ineffectiveness of half our D corp. And without better 5 on 5 play, it will show up in the playoffs. Plus I didn’t say “he” would get blown up, I said “we,” as in the team.

doubtful. Playoff games are rarely blow outs. Especially with top notch goaltending and a good Pk/PP.
You can always count on the refs making some phantom/tickey tack calls to keeps teams in and keep the games close for the ratings.
It’s highly likely we win a round or 2 and that’s it, however If a couple of our guys on offense get hot and Drury makes 1-2 solid depth adds at the TDL, I’d give us a bit more then a punchers chance to do some damage in the postseason.
I think NYR can play with anyone in the East. Not a shot the Pens Roll over us.
The 2 biggest worries imo would be facing Tampa/Carolina and odds are we’d only see 1 of them.
Same in the west. Colorado/Vegas etc. if we get that face to face 1 of them in the final, the season is a massive success.
NYR can absolutely win a 7 GM series against Pitt/Boston/WSH imo

Trading a guy like Berard would be a huge mistake. He is what this team needs. I don't care if he's not 6 foot plus 215 pound winger.
