McKegg is useful where he is but man - If there was a competent offensive player who could possess and create with the puck, yet could also forecheck and hit in his spot like a Blais - that line would be a monster to deal with.

Thats one player i'd be looking to add if I were Drury, and it would come cheaper than we think too.

Problem is we need the same thing on the 3rd line too.

I think they are very likeable. That Jones-Schneider pairing last night is all I've been asking for. That doesn't mean that we can't point out this teams obvious flaws and discuss it. Doesn't always have to be sunshine and roses because it isn't.
I agree for sure things aren't sunshine and rainbows, I'm fine discussing the issues with the team and how to address them but I feel like the arguments sometimes start to become more about digging in and being right then just discussing the team and giving and taking in conversation. I obviously can see the same problems with the team as everyone else, I just hate to see fans seeming to be unhappy all season in a season that by all accounts should be a fun one. Kreider leading the league in goals, Igor the best goalie in the league, Fox doing his thing, young kids starting to grow into their roles, team overachieving and ahead of schedule coming out of rebuild. There's flaws for sure that need to be addressed to become a legit contender, but the team is not as bad as a lot of the rhetoric and arguments would suggest.

I don't know about fun.

The 2019 pre-covid team was fun.

This team is bittersweet... We do a lot of things well and most importantly, we win. But our average 5v5 gameplay is infuriating at times.
Yeah, I mean fun in the sense that they're a likable team that has found themselves ways to win a ton of games. Even when the process isn't as good as you'd like, winning games is still fun. Having a goalie play incredible is fun to watch, seeing Fox every night is fun to watch, Kreider leading the league in goals is fun to watch.

I would think that before trading Nils or other prime assets on a depth winger or D, NYR would be wise to address center position. Not that we don't have the assets to do both, but you don't want to say take a flyer on Caufield with Nils only to find out that, for example, EDM would have done a deal for Holloway involving him in particular. JMO.

Did they win that cup? No, right? And that's my point.

When did Hasek win? When he played on the Red Wings who were good at EVERYTHING. Hasek might be the greatest goalie that ever lived and even he couldn't drag a sub-par team over the finish line.
So let's trade igor and roll with georgiev? Are you good with that?

I'll have more fun watching this team when they play better 5v5.

How about the rest of the team just plays better, are you good with that?

You proved my point for me with that Hasek example, so thank you for that.
No I didnt, bc if you believe that you are inherently saying that the buffalo roster from that year was the same caliber as the nyr roster today which is ludicrous.

You're not breaking new ground here saying the rest of the team can play better, but that is a totally different narrative than saying this team cant win.

Yes, you did. The greatest goalie to ever play couldn't drag a sub-par team across the finish line, and only won when he played on the powerhouse Red Wings. This team ain't that. This team has to be more than the goalie in order to win. Right now they aren't, and they aren't beating Carolina or Pittsburgh unless they are.

"And until they do I will do my best to piss on everyone else's parade!!!" Hahaha.
I'm sure that isn't your intent, buddy, but I'm also sure you can see that negativity (whether you consider it "reality" or not) just makes things less fun, and I think most people are here simply because they enjoy it. Personally it doesn't bug me, and it's totally within your rights, but I see what it does to the conversation.

BTW, I don't see them going anywhere in the playoffs either. If they win one round I'll be ecstatic. But either way I'll watch because I enjoy it.

I was unaware that this board was solely for ass kissing and not legitimate discussions on the team's play...

Baseless speculation from Lebrun. Just connecting dots and throwing out a tweet. Rangers buying Montreal selling Gorton connection.
Gorton strikes me as someone that would be professional and willing to deal with the Rangers. He wasn't shy about selling within the East and getting the best offer in his time here.

I can get behind Lehkonen and/or Armia with Hajek and Gauthier going the other way along with a 3rd or 4th round pick.

He can have Lindbolm, Ragnarsson, and Riley Hughes too.

I'll make sure you get the memo next time. Hahaha.
I think you know that's not what I meant. I'm not here to piss on your parade either, so I apologize if it came off that way. Just figured an third party non hostile voice might give some perspective.

It always is unless there's a specific player cited. I don't think they trade at all with Montreal, tbh.

I do hope they get rid of Nils the more I see of him. Watched some of his AHL minutes and dude needs some agility drills in the worst way. He's not gonna survive without getting a lot more elusive.

Fair enough sir!

According to that tweet LeBrun is saying it's not about picks but the prospects for Montreal. So they could have a deal for Miller with their first and then make a strict player deal with Montreal. Either way nothing really excites me from the Habs. I'm hoping this is more of a people like the put the Rangers name out there type of thing.
I dont want to even offer anything of quality from our prospect pool for Lekhonen or Anderson. Would rather go the 3rd or 4th round pick route with another team for a 3rd liner.

Neither do I. Montreal is not where I'd be doing my shopping.
