With the rumors of moving Binner, as well as the rumors of Schenn or Parayko potentially to the Leafs.

Would Woll (grew up a Blues fan) be of interest and what is his value to St Louis in a package for one of the players I mentioned.

I think it's more likely that we bring Ellis up than us targeting a goalie in a return. Taking on a goalie cap dump, ideally an expiring one is fine, but I don't think we'd target a goalie that holds any significant value. Ellis really turned a corner last season, and has continued that form this season.

I suppose maybe we would value him and want a Hofer/Woll tandem, or maybe we do what Buffalo did with Halak when we traded for Miller and just immediately flip him in another trade.

Blues don't retain salary unless it is an expiring contract this year. Need a 3rd team to take money then.
Flames didn't either, until they traded Markstrom, then they did. Something not happening in the past doesn't mean it will never happen. If the Blues get enough back to make retaining worth it, they will. By retaining 31.25% for 2 years the Flames were able to get Kevin Bahl in the Markstrom deal.

This is kind of like asking what was Luongo's value after he won the gold medal in the 2010 Olympics? Then let me ask what was his value after game 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup final?
Eh, I get what you’re saying but that’s not a fair comparison to Lou. He was always known as a premiere goaltender unlike Binnington

What rumors are there on Parayko?

Short answer no, the only reason it makes sense to move Binner is Hofer is starting to get to the point where we should see what we have in him as a starter, and Ellis is closing in on a spot where he'll probably get an NHL opportunity. Not to mention our team isn't really performing any differently as of late.

The reason we would trade Binner is the reason why I don't see the Blues entertaining moving Parayko unless there's a piece there that could jump in next year in a significant role. Leafs don't really have that.

There was a slight rumour about 2-3 months ago that the Blues might move him, but I don't think it was a super well known source. I remember reading it here in the trade section then.

One game, as big as it was, shouldn’t be changing so many minds on a goaltender. We all know he can pull those games out of nowhere. It’s all the in-between stuff during long seasons that should make sane people worry.

If you’re Edmonton though, and he’s your goalie, and you understand the ups and downs you’re gonna see from him, is he still a better option than what they have?

That answer is probably HELL YES.

So if they can somehow make it happen, I think they have to. Knowing full well, he may crash and burn this playoff, but in 2026 they may ride him to a Cup…. Or the opposite .

He’s exactly why we should all just ignore goaltenders. Never try figuring them out. I billeted with one for 2 years, who I still talk to now, and he’s still the strangest human being I’ve ever encountered. The next 3 are also former goalies.

The billet family sat me down once, asking if he had suffered brain damage and if the team was trying to hide it, just so he could keep playing?? They were dead serious too 😂😂 All because he did so many weird things, like staring at walls, counting the corners over and over again. Nobody knew what OCD was back then. They actually stopped being a billet family after us, because of him. We tried visiting them at a 20 yr thing, and they didn’t let us in the house, but whispered to me as we were leaving, they’d love for me to come back some other time. Without him. 😂

After being drafted and not getting a second contract, he did the Europe circuit for about 10 years living out of a camper, where he married a Russian living in Sweden who couldn’t speak English. 😂😂 there we’re no phones to translate. Then he randomly left her there when he went to play in Germany and honestly thought it wasn’t that big of a deal. 😂😂 She left for work one day and he left for Germany in the camper, never telling her. He’s never seen or heard from her since. 😂😂 After the internet got big and social media started to take off, his current wife tried finding her once but he couldn’t exactly remember her Russian surname. So he has no clue if he’s technically married in Sweden or not 😂

He’s the nicest guy you’d ever meet too. Just oblivious to the world around him and how normal people go about things.

So Goalies truly are on their own planet, and from everything we’ve heard, Binnington is the craziest of them all. So if you want the good, you accept the bad. That’s just the way it is.

Being wrong is your prerogative
Who says I'm wrong?! Other than that phenomenal rookie season from Binnington, he's not shown to be consistent enough being a big money #1 goalie on the same level as Gibson/Markstrom. Plus at times Binnington acts immature when things don't go exactly his way. Despite Binnington's one playoff season with the Blues Cup winning run, in order I would take Gibson, then Markstrom over Binnington. Just showing up in the playoffs or for some playoff runs, doesn't make you a good goalie. Adin Hill and Matt Murray both fit that category. Regular season both goalies in their career have been okay, but both had very good playoff runs.

Just curious how closely you follow the Blues or if you're just a stat watcher like most people in this thread? Binnington has been good a lot more than the 2019 postseason.
