come on zucc should have been dealt the summer before the deadline. Namestnikov too. You know that.

guys should have been moved at the draft multiple times and he couldn’t get deals done

So as I said AT TIMES he’s held on to assists too long

thats based on your own assumptions...what actual offers did he turn down? they moved namestnikov for a bag of pucks like 3 days into the season after trying to move him all summer...you seriously think there were offers on the table and he just decided to wait?

people here talk about us getting the other teams top prospects like its realistic and then get mad when we don't get those guys that were never available.

And that applies to others with Trouba but not you with DeAngelo?
No, it does. People can have different opinions about the worth of players. I haven’t said Trouba isn’t worth having. I’ve said that there’s a window of time in which we can move Trouba, and then we can’t without him waiving. And I’ve said I’m worried that in keeping Trouba, we will instead move ADA. I think that would be a mistake.

So who is ignoring the cap then? What group of people with what opinions was that post directed at?

Said it before but it's up to Kreider and DeAngelo if they wanna stay or get paid, dont blame them either way but the ball is in their court because if their ask is out of line with what the franchise wants they are dust.

I too worry that the Trouba contract may have an effect on whether or not the Rangers keep ADA.

It reeks of classical NYR albatross. Surely we could fit ADA but the long-term perspective is delicate.

Jacob Trouba - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps

Ambivalent, because I don't care about this year. He can suck or not impress, but next year a 4 year NMC kicks in.

Trouba needs to be beasting for us not to lose it.

Because lsat season those guys were untouchable. Just like Lias was untouchable, until he ruined his career by flying home to Sweden. Things change.

Cody Glass is a rookie in the NHL, and currently recovering from an injury. He's playing in the NHL for them. Why would they give up that for a rental? It's the same as the "Burakovsky for Kreider" talk. It is a lateral move for those teams short-term and deadline deals are all about short-term gain. You're not getting an NHL player for a rental. Vegas isn't giving up Cody Glass. And Cody Glass is an NHL player at this point, even though he's a rookie who is still developing. Tolvanen, Vesalainen and Kaut aren't.

Look at it from their perspective. Would you trade Filip Chytil for a rental?
In a vacuum, probably not. But I might were ownership breathing down my neck demanding a deep playoff run. I would probably require some sort of longer term asset included and/or the opportunity to talk with said rental first. But I think there's a lot of pressure on the LV front office now.

I will say I am less on the let's boot Trouba bandwagon, I do see some value there, yet that value is partially based on how poor the other options are, RHD options of that age at least

The other value is his playoff value should the Rangers reach them, the playoffs are different and I do think he could be like that player who can help shutdown/limit an opposing top line, yet with that there is a tradeoff, his offense goes away.

More or less league wide RHD who can do it all well and are young (ish) is limited to like Seth Jones plus like 3 others who I am not going to look up right now. Chances of the Rangers getting any of them I think are slim.

My concern is more with the Rangers having all of Fox, ADA and Trouba and them starting to believe maybe they can move ADA to plug a hole somewhere else. I don't have the confidence they'll be able to do that smoothly, I kind of feel as if they are going to end up moving ADA for something they "like" rather than something of on ice equal value.

You know I want to add. There is so much uncertainty with this roster it’s gotta affect the performance of this team. Kreider potentially leaving doesn’t just affect Kreider it has an affect on everyone who relies on him. Strome DeAngelo Fast Staal Smith Lemieux is another ? a three goalie carousel a fourth line constantly in limbo it’s honestly a mess. This could be a really solid team with some consistency. But considering there is no clear consistency with who’s actually going to be here in a month and it’s been that way for 2 years now it’s going to affect these guys.

I honestly have no clue what this roster looks like in a month even less of an idea of what it looks like in 6 months. And again it’s not one or two guys it’s ALOT of guys

I mean is there any other team out there that only has 3 or 4 guys signed long term past next year?

Yeah best person to site is some no name couch potato putting up blogs. Lots of credibility there.

Cant wait for the advanced stats to be pointed to yet again...which are conveniently cherry picked
Scouch does great work and I absolutely trust his analysis. Probably more so than some actual professionals in the NHL.

We don’t have to make a decision on any of our stud righty Dmen until Fox proves he’s ready for a big money contract in a couple years. Zero reason to entertain moving any of them.
Except at that point it will be too late to make a decision. Trouba will be off the table.

I agree with Larry to jump on a trade for Georgiev now

I'd much rather get these deals done a couple weeks before the deadline. But I know that won't happen
I agree with Larry, but for a different reason.

If I’m Georgiev and I make it to the end of the season, I sit back and wait for an RFA offer sheet. Someone will pony up in a second to sign him for $4MM in a heartbeat.

If burying large cap hits in the minors were still a thing, Staal and Smith would never play another game for this club.

Sadly, the NHL caught on to our shenanigans with Redden.

One wonders what kind of others things might be on the agenda for the new CBA after the 2021-2022 season. I'd like to stop seeing so many "Buyout protected" bonus deals, and maybe limit the number of NMC's and NTC's a team can offer.
No matter how the new contract is settled, there will be a compliance buyout of some kind available. Back door for the rich owners.
