Garland was a force on Arizona. The most diet of marchands the way he skates on his edges, or maybe more like an upper-class Yamamoto. Speaking of, I'd take a flier on him if the oilers make him available--for a cheap price ofc.
Marchand wasn’t Marchand until 27-28.

Maybe we get lucky on timing with Garland and he takes it to another level?

He makes so much sense with Panarin. It'd be really nice if Laffy took it seriously and showed up ready to work, I think he can also work on that side but he needs to be a puck hound. His conditioning and skating would need to improve

Mmmmmm ok

We're the shittiest original 6 team was my point.

We are, AND HAVE BEEN a rudderless ship & 1994 was the "broken clock being right" one time in 80 f***ING yrs and I'm sick to f***ING death of it.

It's too bad no one in management is.

Good for you if you aren't either.

Maybe you should be a Canadians fan then? They've really got it going on over there. @_@

I mean, if you want to go back to almost a hundred years of history, most of which you weren't alive, to tell me what a shitty franchise we are then more power to you.

I'd rather be a Rangers fan over a Leafs fan ANY day of the week and twice on Sunday. They broke our f***ing record of futility with no end in sight. I'm an old mother f***er and they haven't won the Cup since the year I was born. Hell, they have even't been to another FINAL in all those years. They're far shittier than the Rangers have been in my 56 year lifetime.

They waited TEN YEARS to win a SINGLE PLAYOFF ROUND despite Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares, etc... They've had Matthews for seven years and seven years of futility ensued despite having one of the best players on the planet.

Don't talk to me about shittiest.

Goodrow would certainly be a fit in Buffalo. He alone is not going to bring back a valuable young piece. Like Schneider and recognize his potential but on this team he is locked in for a long time as a third pair defenseman. Don’t tell me about. trading Trouba, it’s not happening.

Is that a problem having 3 good RD?

I’m not moving Schneider too young

It’s not a problem but Schneider is #3 of 3. He is going to be #3 of 3 for several more years. He is not going to get significant power play time or top matchups. Yes he is young. If I make a young player with his upside available, my expectation is that I can get a similar piece back. He could be a very valuable trade piece.

I wouldn't expect anything less from you honestly. You make it seem like all the other original 6 teams have had so much success recently. Toronto hasn't won a cup since 1967 and just went 20 fing years without getting past the 1st round. Montreal hasn't won a cup since 1993. Boston has won exactly 1 cup(2011) since 1972.

I wouldn’t say he’s “untouchable” - but it would really need to be a strong piece coming back. Kid is only 21 years old and checks a lot of boxes

Idk, Carolina is in the ECF with Noesen on their top line. Vegas rolls barbashev and howden in their top six.

Carolina - Noesen on L1
Vegas - Barbashev on L1
Florida - Cousins on the Tkachuk line

I watched Garland in Arizona for several years. He is a scappy player with some skill. He also plays a lot bigger than his size. Also a real glue guy.

Would I want him on my team? Probably in a third line role.

Would I want his contract? Pack a lunch. NFW.

His contract is a bargain. I have no idea why people think he's a cap issue. Under 5M for a guy who routinely scores 2+ pts/60?

9th overall, because we were trying to be smart and flashy. crapsoft was a late riser, which was already a catastrophic sign, just had couple of spicy highlights on tape.

Stings considering the players picked after him.
Was that the draft we also took Lindbum? In hindsight we're smarter, but jeez, what a waste of assets.

I still think VK is skilled enough to play in the NHL. His KHL success was not a fluke. He just doesn’t have the work ethic to make it, which is another story entirely because the scouts need to be evaluating that just as much as the kid’s hockey skill.

Drury would never have made that pick. I don’t deny that Drury has his warts but I am pretty sure that he won’t be whiffing on character moving forward.

Kravtsov going back to Traktor so he can smell his own farts some more, is anyone surprised? It was painfully obvious this year that he didnt have what it takes for the NHL. We heard all the PR shtick that he was in NYC all summer working out hard, and then the first shift of his first game he gets ragdolled by Hedman. People will still try to say this was Drury or the Rangers fault somehow, even though the only thing it proves is that they were right to get on him for his lack of commitment.

Kravstov was so damn weak on the puck. Just getting knocked around so easily. I’m not saying he couldn’t have been a success, but he needed to hit the weights and get some calories in.

3 1st that Draft and 2 didn’t work out.

unfortunately you can say that about virtually all of those top picks. you have lias, vk, laffy, kakko all with conditioning issues post draft. all with different levels of issues, but still issues. this is a trend. no one expects them to have their man strength yet but plenty of young kids come in a are able to battle and maintain stamina, our kids when they first come in seem physically overmatched for a number of years.

Who laughed at you?

That would have been an amazing trade.
many people, lots of chirping that it was worthless and florida would have to add multiple picks. ridiculousness

19 years actually, the Leafs' last playoff series win prior to this year was 2004.

The Rangers won 13 playoff series and went to 3 ECF (2012, 2015, 2022) and 1 SCF (2014) in that time frame.

Yeah that would have just been dumb.

The crazy thing about Florida is that despite the fact that they were basically marred in sucking for a long time, their big contributors are NOT guys who came through their system.

Tkachuk - Trade
Reinhart - Trade
Bennett - Trade
Montour - Trade
Bob - UFA
Verhaeghe - UFA (and what a move this was)

The only top 10 picks who they have playing significant roles right now are Barkov who has had his moments but has been mostly quiet and Ekblad who has really struggled.

Bennet, Montour and Verhaeghe together BARELY cost more than Panarin.

When people ask how can you expect to move Panarin and get better, its by doing shit like that.

as i have said in the past, cap space is a commodity. you need cap space to absorb some of those players and their contracts.

Gotta say - if you were a Leafs fan, you'd probably have a daily aneurysm
