Backstrom came back last year. Let’s give it some time
I agree but in Kanes case we would be betting on this season not the future.

Yeah, I already addressed that (above). I saw Chaff's response that nobody came back successfully from that surgery and thought that that what the discussion was about. My bad.
No worries. Too many posts to read them all. :)

In terms of powerplay time we can get more guys time by insisting on maximum effort for 60 seconds instead of a lot of gliding. We should always have fresh legs on the PP in the second period because we can make some changes while still controlling the puck in the offensive end.

The Patrick Kane detractors realize we would only be signing this guy to a team friendly 1 year deal, right? Because I am not sure they do with how they speak about the possibility of bringing him back as if it would be some huge longterm and costly burden. I know, I know, we would rather have Jimmy Vesey as the 3RW…

A few thoughts.

1. I don't view myself as a detractor just because I'm unsure how he would look over say 30-40 games after hip surgery.

2. His agent was just speaking about $7 mill deals so how much is this team friendly deal?

3.I wanted Kane last season but was disappointed in the Kane we got. Is there a way to know which Kane we would get before giving him the job and ruling out all other possibilities?

Lafreniere should at the maximum get the same bridge contract that Kakko did. This should be a very easy negotiation. He’s not as good as Kakko

Easily. And might as well pull the goalie as well.

1 min into the PP, puck in offensive zone. Our PP1 is elite and tired not at all but getting fresh legs can't hurt.

1:00 mark - Trocheck changes
0:55 mark - Panarin changes
0:50 mark - Kreider changes
0:45 mark - Zib changes
0:40 mark - Fox changes
0:35 mark - You realize you have the nubs second unit on the ice to burn the final 35 seconds.

1 & 3. I am willing to bet on Patrick Kane, so long as the bet low risk high reward. I think it benefit both sides to have him only play half the season and playoffs.

2. I did not see or read a report that his agent is looking for $7 million for next year. Unless that was over 2 years. Even then i would be hesitant, but $3.5 per year would be more reasonable. However, I do not believe we could afford $3.5 when he comes off LTIR. I dont have that math. But if we could make him fit than I am taking my chances with Patrick Kane and his new hip over Jimmy Vesey or another 4th line plug all day long. I am not sure where Kane is getting $7 million from unless its Arizona. If he wants to ride off into the sunset then so be it, but I don’t think that is where his head is at

Brisson was just throwing out that it wouldn’t happen until he’s ready and seeing where he wants to play when healthy. His agent wasn’t saying it’ll be 7M because there’s not a contender who has anywhere near that. He was basically saying when he’s healthy he doesn’t see any problem with someone signing him.

Anyway there’s no reason to worry about Kane until Dec/January.

Very possible he’s basically a “trade deadline” pick up early with no assets needed.

If the Rangers go with 21 players (12F, 7D, 2G) to start the season they will have 1.3-1.5M cap space if Laf signs for 2.5 and depending what bottom sixers they use.

From what I’m reading here it seems the goal isn’t to win games but to artificially boost several players point totals not due to any improved play just due to force feeding them extra ice team in easy situations
How is it artificial? Hahahaha. If they get time and pp opportunity and score it’s certainly NOT artificial. And if they are scoring more, how is that contrary to winning? It’s no different than anyone else scoring when getting opportunity and yet it’s artificially boosting THESE players. You certainly seem to have a bias here.
What it is, even if they struggle a bit, is an INVESTMENT in them. So when they are needed they can actually be expected to respond. Which makes it an investment in a winning team. I get it: you don’t like the idea. That’s fine, but there’s nothing artificial about it. It’s pretty much the norm in how top picks are developed. Hahahaha.

jimmy vesey is literally better than patrick kane

This fanbase and their stupid fascination with Tarasenko and Kane.

I read this today

Tarasenko was a drag on the performance of the Rangers’ top six. He played most of his even-strength minutes (270:52) with Mika Zibanejad, and they had a 44.0 XGF% when on the ice at the same time. Zibanejad, meanwhile, had a 66.5 XGF% in 166:45 of ice time without Tarasenko over the final two months of the regular season.

Although Tarasenko has never been known for his defensive prowess, his scoring ability provided cover for his flaws in that area. Whichever team signs Tarasenko will have to hope that his finishing touch is still there.

Tararsenko regression. He can still finish but the rest of his game is declining.

Kane wasn’t much better.

There is one puck. There are so many shifts per game. There are so many opportunities per game. The forwards need to be slotted better. The Rangers young guys need to get more opportunities.

Kane and Vesey could make the same $800,000 but their roles are different.

This topic is annoying.
