Rangers have 34 under contract and 5 qualified RFA's. I expect they'll get to at least 47 contracts. With Pajuniemi in Europe that would mean adding 9 guys to the organization. Tricky because not a lot of cap space and Miller and Lafreniere are going to eat up a lot of it. I would expect at least a couple defensemen--Jones and Harpur are going to have earn their spots but also Hartford could use a good veteran or two. I also expect BMB will probably play another year in the OHL.

Anyway I'm not surprised that the Rangers haven't moved Goodrow. 1) it's not clear that they want to 2) since the covid cap freeze with each succeeding season there seems to be less and less available cap space league wide. Lots of teams right now are cutting players loose that pre cap freeze they wouldn't have. It's become a real issue for many teams just setting aside enough money to sign their better RFA's let alone have enough to sign impact UFA's.

Anderson-Dolan and Geekie to Rangers please. Both would be a hugeUpgrade over Brodzinski, Leschyshyn. Id love McLeod but I can see him being overpaid

Reaves is good for the game but he’s all sizzle no steak.

Cuylle, Robertson & Jones need to be on the NHL roster. I hope they train like it. Othmann has a chance to make it too if he shows he can take a hit in training camp. We are stuck with this roster but it’s very talented with award winning players. Improvement will come from within.
Very talented but dog shit weak on the RW

Lafreniere needs to play RW. Peca can help him make the adjustments. Muse can also work with Lafreniere. This staff is better equipped to work with players than the previous staffs. Both of them have excellent track records of working with young players. Peca did a terrific job with Quinn, Peterka, Kulich and Rosen.

Kakko should have been stapled to Mika and Chris. Gallant couldn’t help himself. He is such a prat.

In 157 minutes, that trio put up a whopping 58.46% shot share, but with a far less impressive 50.58% expected-goals share. The problem wasn’t the offense, as this trio was putting up 70+ shot attempts per 60 minutes and 3.4 expected-goals-for in that span. The issue was defense, as they were just giving up quality chance after quality chance. It was the purest definition of a track meet line.

Naturally, though, that line was broken up because of that poor goaltending in the first month of the season. They got an on-ice SV% of just .875, which is far, far below what you expect of Igor Shesterkin. Individually, all three had on-ice save-percentages over .910 over the full season, so this is a significant impact to their overall appearance on the ice. The trio’s collective 7.3% shooting rate didn’t help either (over 10% individually for the whole season).

Panarin-Trocheck-Lafraniere offensively were creating chances (much like Kreider Zib Kakko were producing together) The first sign of trouble or a few bad games Gallant broke both up. Put them together for a 1/2 season and then see if you need something at the TDL. They might just find out there’s already a fix on their own roster.

Quick coming in at $1.2M.

Laf being shopped

Screw that. 800K + performance bonuses or take a f***ing walk.

EDIT - and that "quietly shopping Lafreniere..." bit is really troubling for a 21 year old 1OA. Have some f***ing patience, please.

Seems like Kane might wait a while to sign until he’s healthy. Even more reason to just move Laf to the RW. If Kane gets healthy what if he wants to play for the Rangers at that point only again?

Laf isn’t getting traded but that’s a message sent by someone in the organization. Hopefully he receives it the right way

Keep Goodrow, but shop Lafreniere??

I smell stupidity
Who makes this shit up and is allowed to still "report".

There is less than 0% chance the Rangers are even entertaining the thought of trading the franchise's only #1 overall pick in its history at the age of 21.

Also in that athletic piece it said Rangers would be interested in Wheeler at the right price.

It’s been Staple from the get to and I’ve heard it from no one else.

Why?

What makes Kreider exempt from moving over to his off wing? It was tried for like two games last year and he was fine.
