Couldn't the Rangers use a top-6 RW though? Zadina isn't an awful idea if they like the player
The fix is simple. We need to get a little faster and also grittier. The obvious thing to do is ship out goodrow and replace his cap hit with both acciari and hathaway. Hathaway is a very good skater and better than goody and will come for 4 X $2 according to AFP. Acciari, good not great skater and gritty game, he will come at 2 X $1.5 according to AFP.

And then if othmann just rips it up in camp/20ish games into hartford and earns the call up, you have the cap space to carry 13 forwards or can waive one of motte/vesey. This is under the assumption motte signs for what AFP projects which is 1 year at $1,040,000

This team below will be a total pain in the ass to play against

I expect the Rangers to have to attach some sort of pick to Goodrow to get rid of him

And they’ll probably get not much in return

If Vancouver is begging people to take Garland who’s a significantly better player, I can’t imagine teams are gonna be taking Goodrow without a sweetener
Rs can just give him away for a 6th to like SJ
get cap space
but
should not go there now
should start keeping and deal when inevitable injury ups his value

Panarin, Zbad, Kreider, Trocheck, = ~38m cap space, 15 pts in 7 playoff games

All leaving their primes
one of these names is not like the others
bread is stale

Top 6 forwards are really top 9 forwards now.

Rasmussen is interesting if not different than what we already have here which isn't a bad thing.

You could theoretically have 2/3rds of a jumbo line with him and Cuylle on it.
Ras at the right price could def work, but I don't see them moving him

Goodrow for Zadina and rights to Nedelkovic ?

Valeno maybe a guy they move on from

Wings have a lot of space . A few coming off the books next year like Kubalik and Perron
Detroit has 5 top 50 picks. I expect them to use 2 or 3 of them to upgrade their roster to make the playoffs this coming season. Stevie Y is a club legend but I can't imagine his seat isn't at least a little warm.

Why do we only play 6 games? And I hate that stupid break we always have from the 4th to the 5th game.

On another note, I listened to the most recent 32 Thoughts and it just reminded me why I don't regularly listen to those. It's awful. I don't think I have ever listened to an information based podcast and come away with less information.

I know, its the dog days of summer already, but I don't like the endless baseless speculation and the nonsense constantly spewing from Marek's mouth. Haha

Why is Kreider on his natural side and Laf on the off wing, when we want to develop Laf and Ck is who he is at this point.
Ck on the third line, or rw.

I would imagine that’s a team choice not a league one?

I could see Zadina being a piece Detroit is okay moving along with a pick. He seems like the odd man out. He still has intriguing upside but he would need to be put in a scoring position. I wouldn’t hate him in either open RW spot

Lafreniere-Zibanejad-Kaako
Panarin-Chytil-_______/Zadina
Kreider-Trochek-_______/Zadina

Perhaps sign someone like Craig Smith on a buy-low deal

It is to my knowledge. And that bothers me more. Some teams play 8 or 9 games. We should be playing at least 1 more game, if not 2. It is what it is at this point though. I think we have been doing it this way since I can remember.

Elias Lindholm looking like he wont be signing with Calgary. I remember @Edge saying a few years back that the Rangers really liked him. He's 28 now and only 1 more season until UFA so he'd need to get paid. I'm on the "stand pat" train this summer but he'd add a lot if Drury and Laviolette want more experience in the top 6.

that bottom6 is bad imo

it's five 4th liners. Cuylle could eventually develop into a strong 3rd liner. The other four players can plug in for injuries but starting with them on the 3rd line is asking for failure.

We need another top9 player or two. It's why I'm on the Engvall train. I also hope Othmann grabs the spot in training camp. Stylistically, he's exactly what we need.

Valliquette continuing to harp on the young players getting in to top shape this summer. He's right. I defend Laf, Kakko & Chytil but this is coach #3 for them. Put up or ship out time for them.
I mean we’ve seen reports and video of Chytil and Kakko workouts every summer. Including Kakko working out with same Finnish trainer as Rantanen. I have no doubt that kid puts in work. But we don’t see the same from Laffy. Not to say he isn’t working hard but there does seem to be a not so subtle “this guy doesn’t work hard enough” narrative coming out of the Rangers org this summer. It’s not a good look for anyone.

he was very attractive with his cap#. Once he gets paid in the 8M range... that attractiveness goes away

I think he generalizes as to not single out Laffy. Kakko and Chytil seem to be in decent condition. Chytil is a glass cannon though and leaves you desiring for more physically. Kakko I think will develop a nastiness to his game eventually

he might be talking about Fox too.... Hard to believe but there's room for Fox to take it to another level IMO

Lindholm will get $8M in his next contract. $8.5M.

I was watching a TSN video earlier this week. Dreger was discussing the trade market. Where are all of these players going? He said the Jets have players available but teams haven’t really made any significant offers for their players. Hellebuyck was $9.5M in his next contract. PLD wants $9M.

Sure then switch it
