I agree the value is fair and I would pull the trigger on that. Personally I’d do that and fill out their roster spots with 1 year deals until Cooley signs. I don’t know if dru would since he’s in win now mode. I hope I’m wrong and he’d pull the trigger on that.

Cooley is a center. If youre going to trade for him he needs a spot in the lineup to play. The obvious move to get a 19 year old of his caliber is to move a young-ish pro on your team who has value + cooley slots right into his spot.

The problem with that is you’re moving Chytil for cooley, and what message does that send Laf and Kakko.
Chytil just signed a 4 year deal without trade protection, and he’s immediately moved.
Gives them significantly less incentive to sign any deal that’s easily moved.

The message it sends is a simple one to frame from Drury.

1) we just acquired a monster one of the best center prospects in the sport and hes gonna play with you

2) hes gonna have 3 years on an ELC and we need more money to pay you guys on your 3rd contracts and this just freed it up.

Its a business. These kids know that

Dubois makes 0 sense. Nyr cannot afford to pay Dubois 9 mil. And if there no guarantee that he’ll sign for more than 1 year why would we give up a cost controlled c who is finally putting together. Sure if troch & goodrow would agree to a trade to the jets(which is doubtful) then sure but chytil makes no sense with his cap hit, potential to grow. Also Marek thinks it’s a fit but doesn’t say if there’s interest. I remember on his show he asked Vince and Vince said he didn’t see that as a likely scenario

The ironic thing is the Rangers need a player like Zac Jones more than they need a player like Jack Drury. Drury is a decent all around guy, but I am more than a little skeptical about his offense translating to NHL

Rangers failed to properly develop back-to-back "can't miss" prospects. Stands to reason we should trade for a 3rd in Cooley so he can learn how to play on the 3rd line because Panarin still misses Strome.

Elliotte Friedman said he thinks LA will make a big run to acquire Dubois. People told him to look for LA.



It would make sense because Kopitar has one more season remaining on his contract. Kopitar can still produce. Dubois's agent Pat Brisson is very close to Kings president Luc Robitaille. The Kings and Brisson made a Danault deal a few years ago.

8x9 for Dubois. $8.75M which is the Larkin contract. $9.15M for Barzal. Somewhere in that range for Dubois.

I actually don't worry about our defense as much. The Devils did not get to the net front much in that series. Our problem was more so our lack of speed in transition and not having wingers fast enough to aid on the breakout.

this is less Chytil idiocy and more Dubois idiocy. He has a &6M cap hit and he's probably expecting $8M x 8 on his next contract despite having never eclipsing 30 goals or 65 points.
