Just re-sign him to a nice 2-3 year deal. Honestly, if that was Kane playing on one leg...
Kane will be 35 on November 19. That could put hIm in a different contract class.

I think there’s a better than 50% chance he is a Ranger next year.

Stay tuned.

He’s not. This is off season fantasy camp.
Don’t Be so sure.

tbh as hobbled as he was, i was actually pleasantly surprised that Kane was still going to the dirty areas of the ice on occasion during the playoffs.

I don't need Panarin to turn into Kreider at the netfront, or spend his entire shift grinding along the boards like a 4th liner. But he has to at least pose a credible threat of doing so

If he signs a contract this off-season it won't be a 35+. That's part of my desire to get him locked in at 3 years now. Also, I think next year will be almost fully lost for him. So he gets a guarantee and the team gets him at a locked in rate

1 year 1.5m. LTIR him. He'll be healthy by December and you get 40 games to get him ramped up for the playoffs.

Could think of worse options for a cap strapped team
That won't work. Either we'd need to fit him under the cap without using LTIR, or we'd have to make space to activate him when he comes off LTIR.

The only way it could really work is if he were out the entire regular season, but even then, it's far from ideal as we wouldn't be banking cap space if we're using LTIR.

How is next season lost? They just said 4-6 months. If it’s the 4 month end he’d be ready before opening night. I don’t imagine if he’s able to play in October/November he’ll go the whole year hobbled and not play to his capabilities. If that was the case he’d be out way longer.

I don’t think he considers Nashville. If he didn’t like Columbus I don’t think he considers a similar market. Turned down more money from Isles to sign with NYR. Think he has to go to big market if he goes. Think best chance to move him is to Chicago to play with Bedard but not even sure Chicago considers. Would only want cap relief/futures in a Chicago deal
I don't 111% agree.
Some similarity Columbus to Nashville, but Nash is at/near top of the next tier under the big 3 (US) [NY-LA-CHI] and is closer to NY than Columbus.

Also, dat wuz den an dis is now.
He wanted the biggest stage, and reasonable chance of winning with a supporting cast.
He got the stage, and while there is blame to go around, he has not excelled here b'c despite a certain amount of production based on raw talent, he is not a fit, and will NOT want to take the heat, which is gonna be increasing, ongoing.
NY took a shot and it was a gamble that lost big time.
Preds are in better position to potentially advance given a star core, but also, unlike NY, ample amount of cap to invest, and I believe also a few emerging prospects.

So there is a rationale for Nash.
I could see other locations being also, possibly more preferable.

If we can move him, we should.
Recover cap, lock up KAM, and roll w/youth

So to recap the options are Canes with cap space and the need for a offensive force who may excel in there structure as everyone else will be back checking but Bread.. Ducks and the Stromer reunion tour...and the Nash strategy..Staple said something last post playoffs that Bread would waive..so there is that also...Throwing out stale Bread allows us to fill the Bread Basket with fresh Bread.

Said it when the season ended, Kane is gonna come at the end of the year and play with us for the playoffs next year. It will be our little cap circumvention secret to get a player like Kane for no cap.

Cap casualties:

2023, if needed Goodrow can be traded at any time.

July 1st 2023, trouba's nmc becomes a m-ntc. We can get back the original package.

July 1st 2024 Trochek's turn.

Will we ever stop with the bad contracts?
