If he signs a contract this off-season it won't be a 35+. That's part of my desire to get him locked in at 3 years now. Also, I think next year will be almost fully lost for him. So he gets a guarantee and the team gets him at a locked in rate

Agreed. NYR are a business, not a hockey team. They “win” by keeping fans and sponsors happy with big names like Nash and Panarin while always remaining marginally competitive. Remember when we thought they would actually rebuild? C’mon, Dolan wants more money.
