Why is Panarin waiving NMC for a rebuilding Nashville team?
He’s not. This is off season fantasy camp.
Why is Panarin waiving NMC for a rebuilding Nashville team?
Chicago and St Louis will both be better than last season even if Winnipeg is worse. Nashville is not an obvious contender, a big city or a traditional hockey market. Why is Panarin waiving for them? What's so tough about their division?
Arizona
Chicago
Colorado
Dallas
Minnesota
St Louis
Winnipeg
Colorado should be better or as good next year. No Landeskog.
Dallas will be another year older, they aren't a young team.
Minnesota is always a tough team to play against but they have serous issues with the cap and are losing Dumba.
Winnipeg is about to implode.
If I'm Nashville, with some small tweaks and relative health of Josi, Saros and Forsberg they can compete. They have ~$16m in cap space with 11F, 5D and 2G signed. They could add Panarin by shipping Ducheen out, sign Tarasenko and Bertuzzi and push for a playoff spot.

Yes, Nashville is better than Columbus but you are basically making the Gaudreau to Columbus case; except Panarin has already been in that situation and left first chance he got; it’s not happeningI am not going to assume to know everything that Panarin wants but Nashville isn't exactly Buffalo, it's a beautiful city with a lot going on. No state income tax, great weather. And a team that has a good veteran core (Josi, Saros, Forsberg + cap space to sign more)
I don’t think Panarin will wave either, but two sub parr playoffs leading to over the top criticism in the news capital of the world may give him second thoughts about staying in NY. It’s much easier playing on a team that has a chance for the post season, but where the fan base does not have as high of expectations. Why is Panarin waiving NMC for a rebuilding Nashville team?
I mean I think this is incredibly wishful thinking; but if this was the case he probably asks to be sent back to Chicago over a team like NashvilleI don’t think Panarin will wave either, but two sub parr playoffs leading to over the top criticism in the news capital of the world may give him second thoughts about staying in NY. We can’t afford to resign Matthews.Going to put on my ultimate homer/fan hat for two minutes.
Matthews isn't re-signing in Toronto. They can't afford to lose him for nothing. Panarin + for Matthews.
Panarin keeps their window open and continues a proud Leaf tradition of being a playoff disappointment.
We get Matthews and our identity changes overnight.
I think he seriously considers nash.there are probably teams Panarin would waive for. I just do not think there is any reason that Nashville is one of them. Unless he doesn’t want to pay state income tax
They just put a new front office and coach in place. They have a bazillion draft picks and are in a really tough division. They are rebuilding. And nothing about Panarin screams “I want to play in Tennessee” especially if they aren’t an obvious contender
I don’t think he considers Nashville. If he didn’t like Columbus I don’t think he considers a similar market. Turned down more money from Isles to sign with NYR. Think he has to go to big market if he goes. Think best chance to move him is to Chicago to play with Bedard but not even sure Chicago considers. Would only want cap relief/futures in a Chicago dealI think he seriously considers nash.
Whether or not he has sufficiently stronger pref elsewhere is another ?.....

I've been to both Nashville and Columbus. Columbus isn't Nashville.
Columbus is underrated as a city but Nashville is legitimately a dope one.
May not be his speed though.
I live in TN. Just got back from Nashville.Columbus is underrated as a city but Nashville is legitimately a dope one.

Columbus is terrible. Ohio is terrible in general. But again there’s no evidence Panarin wants to play in that kind of market againI've been to both Nashville and Columbus. Columbus isn't Nashville.
Columbus is not overrated as a city. It’s just college kids and adult that think they are still college kids. And the food sucksColumbus is underrated as a city but Nashville is legitimately a dope one.

Yes, they are under contract to play in that college arena for 2 more seasons. I'm sure they can get out of it after next season if they move though but they aren't' going anywhere next year. Are the Coyotes going to be in Arizona next season?
Chicago would have to want him back. I suspect they do not since they are no where near ready to compete. Nashville has more parts to compete soon.I mean I think this is incredibly wishful thinking; but if this was the case he probably asks to be sent back to Chicago over a team like Nashville
