I’d argue that Kakko was the only one not ready, and that Quinn was the issue with Laf.
Quinn had no system, and no direction and he basically told an 18 year old kid to “figure it out”
And expected the kid to put up 70 pts without pp time. And make no defensive mistakes.
Kakko looked worse than Lafreniere but it doesn't mean that the later was himself ready for 18 min a game in top-6. Nothing wrong with it but he should've done these 18 min + in all situations in the AHL on the top line and learning how to carry the play. Definitely bigger issue with Kakko.

Laf couldn’t play in the ahl. Nor could Kakko at 18.
These weren’t options.
Laf going back to a Q that he demolished, would’ve been meaningless.
Kakko going back to Finland would’ve been a bad look as the goal was to get acclimated to the NA ice.

Pretty sure Kakko could've played in the AHL. Wasn't Lafreniere's first year when going to the AHL was allowed due to Covid? Otherwise stand corrected.

How about Duchene and a 3rd?
That would be about right. We need someone with speed and skill on the right side and to open up time on the left for Laf, Othmann and Cuylle.

Having said that, it probably won't happen. Probably as in 99% no. haha

Preds fan in upstate, I headr rumblings on Breadman earlier. What would be the price?

There's nothing definitive or concrete about him being available or being shopped. It's speculation based on the fact that he's had back-to-back no-shows in the playoffs, makes a ton of money, and is blocking Lafreniere from getting a spot in the top six. That being said, there was a rumor that Drury was fed up with him after last year's playoffs so who knows at this point?

How about Duchene and a 3rd?

Ideally we split him into lesser parts to fill out the roster but personally I wouldn't hate the idea of Duchene coming back. Frees up some room, can play RW which is what we need.

Kakko should have played mostly in the AHL his first season and frankly it probably stunted his development that he didn’t.

The roster was too thin to justify it but it would have been the right move

IMO
1. bread has full nmc so he will call the shots on this
2. stands to reason, he KNOWS he is NOT getting a new deal here, let alone anywhere REMOTELY close to his current $ #. He won't want to stick around til the last minute, so there is hope, although how soon he chooses to exit remains to be seen.

3. Cost: assuming he goes to teams he feels = comfortable fit, and Nashville is, the formula =
-- how many such teams [smaller # than all teams]
-- to what extent competitive bids are offered
-- of those, how many are in preferred currency for Rangers?

4. Understood some cap has to go the other way.
Rs will want as much cap relief as possible.

Given this ^ what do you suggest?
