Baertschi, depending on how you feel about the contract.

Eh. That he couldn't make the Canucks is worrying. Screams of a player putting up mediocre numbers only because he was getting more ice time than he deserved. He was getting 12 and 13 minutes of EV TOI per game the last two seasons.

We can't afford the contract anyway.

Quinn likes namestnikov and Fast together. They even played a bunch with Mika last year as a top line if you recall. So not surprised they stay together. However I do think Lias showed enough in particularly in that last game to at least start today between them.

Lemieux and McKegg played a bit Saturday night at times together and played well(they were on for Tony’s goal) so again it’s just the centers im surprised at.

Good news/bad news move for Chytil. He got demoted, but the team didn't want him squandered on the 4th line. Sending him down is an investment, particularly at center. They want big minutes, and the bonus of working on his game on a smaller stage. They see something in him. It's almost like they have more optimism in him than Howden in a big picture sense. Howden will get limited minutes on the high club. Chytil has long term projections.

And nothing is etched in stone. Everyone needs to seize their opportunities and make the most of it.

You wouldn't want them to claim Sprong?

Not sure why ADA isnt in there instead of Skjei but anyway
ADA isn't on the ice because his grandfather just passed away.

I’m really happy they didn’t just say let stick him on the wing in the bottom 6 somewhere. No they recognized Chytil is best served playing center on a top line. And if he can’t do that here do it in the A. Same with Kravtsov. This showed patience and will pay off soon enough

Per Capfriendly, Rangers are only at 45/50 contracts so they could claim a HoSang/Sprong without having to make a trade.

Would not mind that at all. Waive Haley/McKegg to make room on active roster.

Assume that PP2 changes once DeAngelo returns from his family leave of absence, though I'm not sure exactly how...

Well that's the most frustrating move thus far.

VK and FC in Hartford is the right call. Have those guys develop their play. It must be a huge confidence killer for Filip but we all knew he was a project coming in and he turned heads last year. He'll be back up soon.

Kravtsov might take a little longer to be called up unless there is an injury but he needs to acclimate his game to NA and understand he can't dangle through defenders like he did in the KHL.

Not surprised that kakko is on PP2. That’s also the right decision. DeAngelo should take Skjei’s spot when he returns.

Pp1 should run thru panarin and Pp2 will run thru kakko.

the 4th line is not an NHL line and we're banking on the 3rd line keeping up their chemistry

I understand that we're not gunning for anything but it's still going to be hard to watch
Chemistry aside, Lemeiux has looked pretty excellent all camp, he's young enough that it's very believable that he's simply taken a step and can be an effective third line player. Lias has looked capable of 3C duties, same deal as Lemieux in terms of it being pretty believable that he's just taken a step as a young player. Vlad isn't a world beater by any means but he's not way out of his depth on an NHL third line.

Fourth line has two capable fourth line wingers and a questionable 4C, which yeah isn't great but not a nightmare.

Pp1 should run thru panarin and Pp2 will run thru kakko.

The problem with this is PP2 is basically just mop up duty often seeing the last 40 or so seconds after the opponent clears the puck....team then has to gain entry and setup again, they might get one chance to do anything.

Teams don't try to spread the wealth on the PP, they try to load up on the top unit. Would have prefferred him on the top unit but whatever.
