Kind of odd to not keep Boo as a scratch.

It honestly makes no sense to me as we will allow him to be stolen for no real reason.

It will be a relief to stop hearing about him though and it will be even more hilarious if he goes unclaimed

Is it really stealing if u really want someone to take him?

I see Panarin, Kreider, Lemieux, Names down the left and Buchnevich, Kakko, Fast, McKegg down the right.

Presumably you could shift Names to play RW on the third but he hasn't been on that side recently.

Lemieux can play either wing too (and is playing RW on the 4th line in the lineup Cyrgalis tweeted).

Every team in the NHL is going to waive a Nieves caliber player over the next few days, or already has. It could happen, but I'd be pretty surprised if he was claimed.

I would like to claim that Josh Ho-Sang is different from just about any other head-case in the category he is put in. Why? The kid — has — hockey-sense. He sees the ice well, passes the puck well.

So often the headcases just aren’t good players. Almost always. You become a head case when you suck and can’t get by as a grinder. Ho-Sang’s speed and skating is really good and and he can move the puck. That is a very valuable combination in today’s game.

I think NYI has done an awful job developing him. Cutting him for oversleeping is just bad. It just haven’t been right for him, that approach.

With that said — no matter how hard I try — it’s really hard to fit him in. But I would certainly be thrilled if Gorton gave it a go.

Maybe. But this is a guy that multiple teams had on a do not draft list, a guy that the Islanders AHL coach called a baby and immature. Which is fine. Some players grow out of that. But I think Ho-Sang's issues run deeper than that. He fails to accept responsibility. Anytime there is an issue Ho-Sang blames someone else. This isn't a Tony DeAngelo situation where I think most (not all) of the headcase concerns were largely overblown.

The Rangers aren't going to undo all the work they have done to draft, develop and sign guys with outstanding character by putting in a claimer for a guy that, based on what I have read, is the very definition of locker room cancer.

McKegg is a better player than him, and it's probably a better idea for him to play in Hartford and help them, then to sit scratched for the NHL team.

I also don't think the team is losing sleep over losing Nieves either tbh

Imagine this forward group without Panarin and Kakko? Yikes. We will be thanking our lucky stars for the summer of 2019 for years and years to come.

Well if we're being cynical that's two 4th lines that were fielding there, and Andersson will be one of the top picks for PK.

Who joins Kakko and Strome on PP2?

I really hope we’re not the team acquiring jack Johnson. Have a bad feeling

I'm not sure why you would concern yourself that is a ridiculously remote chance at worst. Given our cap situation, it would require some major financial gymnastics unless we sent Smith or Staal the other way and even then, it still makes little sense for us.

See this is what annoys me:

what the absolute **** has Howden done to be the 3c over Lias? Quinn has a serious blind spot for this kid.

Eh... Let's see where the TOI falls when Thursday night rolls around. I mean, look at it as follows, and it's not so bad:

Panarin-Zibanejad-Buchnevich
Kreider-Strome-Kakko
McKegg-Andersson-Lemieux
Namestnikov-Howden-Fast

My one (super-minor) gripe is that I'd switch Namestnikov and McKegg, but I'm not gonna get hung up on it.

Especially since we all know the lines will likely change before we're 5 games into the season...

And why not keep Lemieux - Andersson - Vlad together? That seemed to be a great line.
Agreed, this makes no sense.

I'm just talking a combination standpoint. Lemieux-Lias-Namestnikov was great together, why are they separated now?
