Winnipeg has depth of the left side. They prefer a righty. If they don’t want Guhle, the Rangers can trade Lundkvist to Winnipeg for Guhle. Gorton acquires Dubois. Winnipeg has expressed an interest in Lundkvist. Gorton will probably need to include one of the young D in the deal for Dubois.

Wiebe answered a question about Winnipeg having depth on the left side and they may try to move Dillon.

Winnipeg would be so smooth brained to nit take Guhle in a deal because he is lefty. I don’t think that can be real. Especially if they are trying to move Dillon out; that alone makes a spot

Also, like, I think we're going to see a different Panarin with a center that's going to the net, helping with transition, and covering defensively as opposed to a center that's just mirroring Panarin's every move like a circus chimp, just on the wrong side of the ice.
Imagine if we get the year 1 Panarin and 70 point Trochek.

The return should be really good, but it's pretty obvious he's gonna end up in St.Louis so you have to trade him this summer to get more teams involved.
why would the return be really good? you say it is pretty obvious he is going to the blues at the end of the day so why would any team trade a big haul for one year of a guy that doesnt want to be there? and to the next end, why are the blues paying a premium for a player that holds all the cards and almost everyone knows he wants to go there? i think the return will be marginal compared to the player MT is.

I said this in the Around the NHL thread but if I were Calgary, I wouldnt trade Tkachuk. They will not get fair value on the market. They should sign Kadri, keep Matthew and try to win a Cup next year. They are still a good and talented team with a solid goalie. He will walk at the end of the year but they should go for it.

That would be bad asset management, and I don’t see Kadri, or anyone who wants to compete for a Cup yearly, sign there long term if Tkachuk is running off next summer.

Unfortunately, the Flames were dealt a shit hand, but they have to play it anyway. Get what they can for Tkachuk. Maybe do the same for Lindholm. They need to make sure they target the right players who won’t leave for the U.S. the first chance they get.

I think they are just screwed in general right now and are going to end up taking a deal from the blues slightly better than the flyers did for giroux bc the flames are on the clock right now with the arbitration, and I think the leafs are staring at this shitting their pants with matthews.

the more i think about this i dont think the flames took him to arb in order to buy time like has been proposed bc they were afraid of an offer sheet, an offer sheet wouldve helped them. i think they took him to arb bc they were afraid he would hold out and refuse to sign this year forcing a trade for nothing to wherever he wanted to go, so the team took him to arb to force him into a contract and then made the social media post about doing it to protect from an offer sheet as a pr move. i mean if he signed an offer sheet and the flames landed four 1sts or two 1sts, 2nd and 3rd that is probably more value than what they are getting from a trade at this point.

also neither st louis nor the sens can not do the 8.4-10.5 offer sheet as they do not have their picks, so they could only do the 10.5+. this club arbitration was about forcing him into playing this year and had nothing to do with protecting from offer sheets like the team said.

Asset management is BS. The fans deserve to watch a winning team. They pay hard earned money for it, and Calgary is going to trade 1 year of Tkachuk for magic beans? Treviling should be fired on the spot if that happens, and for letting it get to this point in the first place.

For both Tampa cup winners and Pittsburgh’s cup winners the “3rd line” was often their best line.

Lol, I buy the ‘awful’ comment, but I don’t agree that a certain player being on a 3rd line should be an issue at all. Special teams is what matters.

The line-up could be awful if the 3rd can’t deliver. I am 100% certain that Kreider-Ziba-Kravy and Goodrow-Trocheck-Kakko could hold their own against the best teams. I would also bet on that Goodrow-Trocheck-Kakko could become a possession monster line, but until you see them deliver it’s of course not 100%. Laf at center might be ahead of time. Make it Panarin-Chytil-Laf
Yes. I agree. NYR can play Lafreniere at LW on the third line as long as they play that line more. They have enough depth to construct three good lines, I think.

Asset management is far from BS. Come on dude. Maybe the fans deserve it or not but that doesnt matter. You are trading a player who does NOT want to be on your team now or in the future. There is no outcome that keeps Tkachuk. Yes he is a good player on a solid team but as a team you need to get assets for expiring ones that have no future with you in order to help the future of your team. They can go for it but what a shitshow that will be in the locker room with guys knowing he doesnt want to play with you or anyone else on that team. It creates issue in the locker room.

You need to get the best possible return for him as you can and continue on.

I don't need Vince to tell me this. I mean a trade could always happen, but I don't think it's a mystery that NYR believe he's an NHL level player and and are penciling him into the lineup.
Yeah, it's pretty obvious. He's not waiver-eligible this season and makes $800k. Considering the current cap situation, it only makes sense to play him and re-evaluate later this season as they accrue more cap space near the deadline (I don't think they should trade him). If they were set on trading him, it would've been done at the draft.
