God dammit. Cole Sillinger, who is still 18 years old has 26 points in 71 games as of tonight. He averages 13:36 per night on a team whose leading scorer has 56 points.

Lafreniere has 25 points in 72 games, averaging 13:55 a night on a team with a guy who may hit 100 points and having spent some of that time playing with a 50 goal scorer and a point per game center.

That stings.

Ranked 7th in his draft class.

Even Drysdale has more points and he's a defenseman.

The UFA goalie market won’t be enough to fill all the leaguewide team needs I think.

Teams that could potentially be looking for goalies including Edmonton (Koskinen), Washington (depending on how their goaltending holds up in the playoffs), Toronto (if Campbell isn’t re-signed), Colorado (if Kuemper leaves), New Jersey (the Devils have prioritized trying to upgrade at the goalie position this summer), and Buffalo (the Sabres intended to talk to Craig Andersonabout potentially coming back but would still look at the goalie market either way). There are probably a few other teams depending on how things shake out.

Aside from the UFA goalies, you’ve got potential trade targets led by Alexandar Georgiev of the Rangers. He’s an RFA this summer and while the Rangers have enjoyed their goalie depth, I suspect his need for a new contract will spur on a trade and there are some teams that see No. 1 potential in him or at least 1a/1b potential.

Georgiev haș won his last 6 starts. Half of them are considered good starts. He should be get 3-4 more starts this season.

13-9-2 2.91 GAA .898 save % 2 shoutouts

LeBrun wrote teams see Georgiev's potential. It seems there is more than one team. Hopefully, Drury makes a good deal and the Rangers recoup some of their draft pick capital for 2023.

Why does it sting? Not like the Rangers could have had Sillinger

Because he was taken 4 spots ahead of Otthman, an entire year later than Laf. He’s an 18 year old rookie #12OA who has more points in less games in less minutes per game without ever once playing with the quality of linemates Laf occasionally has than our 20 year old sophomore #1OA has. Instead of stings, I guess I should have said sucks. That just sucks.

Charlie Lindgren seems an obvious choice as a backup option next year. He deserves a real shot in the NHL.

It's about as impossible as you can get. They aren't getting traded in the offseason. You don't trade a 1st and 2nd overall pick after 2-3 years. Nobody does that and the Rangers aren't going to be the first.

Without wanting to get too technical, Bernard, Seguin and Johnson are 3 players that were drafted by about their 3rd year (although Johnson may have been #3 overall?).
Doesn't happen often but it certainly happens

I actually think Lafreniere’s skating lately has been pretty good.
That's fair. When they keep their feet moving they are far more effective. I guess I am thinking both players need more explosive first 2 steps. They aren't bad skaters, just gotta put some stat points into acceleration. Haha

Also, Kakko got a couple of goal last night, but I think Kakko needs to release his shot a bit faster and Laf needs to work on his accuracy.

Again, I don't think they are bad players. They are young and still have all the potential in the world, but they have to start training the things that can separate them from the pack.

That’s a low bar for really sucking. I think it would really suck for Sillinger that he’s in Ohio.

A goalie who, prior to this year, had an .886 save percentage over his last 4 AHL years and 89 games? I am going to have to pass on that one. It's nice that he's been better this year but I cannot in good conscience go into a season with a backup who has shown that level of ineptitude over that many seasons against weaker competition. Would there even be any interest in him if he wasn't Ryan's brother?

Chytil and Nils to ?? for a Young cost controlled 3-Center if the right deal is there (otherwise keep Phil)
2022 1st (conditional/Copp), Lindgren, Hajek, Gauthier plus to Desert for Chychrun at reduced cap (not 50%)
Nemeth and Henriksson to Detroit for a 5th

Chytil is a cost controlled 3C.

If you are dealing him and Nils you better get an extremely nice C back, with top 6 upside.

What about the KHL? Are there any goaltenders, or position players for that matter, that could be targeted?

I'd imagine the uncertainty there will have any player with options considering them.

I know certain posters continue to hate this idea, but I can't be stopped!

Trouba and our first round pick to Detroit for their pick if Brad Lambert is on the board (Trouba waives because he's from Michigan).

Rebuild officially over. Salary freed up. Future 1C acquired. Future defense enshrined. If not right away, eventually the following:

Miller - Fox
Jones - Schneider
Robertson - Nils

You've got size on every pairing there.

Lafreniere - Zibanejad - Kreider
Panarin - Copp - Kakko
Vatrano - Chytil - Kravtsov
Motte - Goodrow - Blais

Money left over for long term extensions for Miller, Kakko and Lafreniere. Lambert future 1C.. He, Othmann, Cuylle, and Berard in the wings to fill in for Vatrano, Blais, Copp and Motte who get short/medium term extensions. Also that f***ing fourth line is dominant.

Don't worry about it. Othmann is gonna be great for us and there is always Montreal.

If Laf doesn't pan out, we'll rip off MTL in a trade.*

*disclaimer: I want and believe Laf will pan out, I don't know where though.

Trouba has arguably been our best defenseman this year. Not sure that’s the step I take towards winning anything.

You have to live with the hit for a year since he's already under discussion to be moved when his NMC expires anyway.

This fixes everything long term. All you have to give up is like a year of Trouba.

And sorry, Trouba is not our best or most important defenseman, Fox is, and very quickly Miller is going to supplant Trouba also. Probably by next season frankly.

Most of your proposals stink dude. lol

You really think Schneider will just replace Trouba, like that? Trouba has been second best defenseman this year. Like legit worth his contract, finally.

And you really think we would just go on to #winning with an 18 yo Lamb-ert ... in Hartford?

Last but not least, DET has mad defensive depth and have no need for a big RHD veteran like Trouba, because they have Seider.
