I don’t think the team or management feels the same about Strome as much of the board. I also think they really like Copp. I think they strongly consider clearing as much cap as necessary to keep Copp and Strome. Nemeth/Kakko/Georgiev/maybe Chytil out. The next ELC forward wave (all wings by the way, like Kakko) will come with Othmann/Cuylle/maybe Kravtsov re-signed at ELC level/whatever ELC or picks they get for Kakko.

Not saying this is what I would do per se…maybe though. It’s a sound approach.
I also dont think this is out of the realm of possibility, but it would probably require moving Lindgren. Someones BFF is going to be gone this summer at minimum imo (Copp/Trouba, Strome/Panarin, Fox/Lindgren)

Goodrow has done EVERYTHING asked of him when they traded for and signed him.

He's not getting traded a year in regardless of what you may or may not think is the best path forward.

He's a guy that can legit slide up and down the line up and not hurt the team. In case of an injury, or late in a game protecting a lead, that is a HUGE player to have on your team

Isn't it a running joke that they almost trade Strome every summer? I don't think this is an organization that's been looking at the next Ryan Strome contract and saying we need to have this. Maybe middle-tier players like him and Copp get screwed by the flat cap though.

A big reason for signing Goodrow in the offseason was his playoff pedigree. I think we should maybe hold off on evaluating his role here until we see him play in the playoffs? Frankly, a lot of these players are going to make the decision for Drury themselves based on their play in the postseason.
Evaluating long term investments off of the SSS of a playoff run is not usually the best way to do things. It's not enough information and too prone to variance to really get an idea of anything.

I'm not saying it's the only evaluation to make but I do think it gives you a window into who the player is. The ultimate goal is to win a Cup, you need to see who rises and who wilts and reward the guys who perform.

I have a theory with Strome that the Rangers didn’t/wouldn’t trade him because he is Panarin’s best friend, and are fine just letting his contract run down and using that as an excuse to let him walk.

That being said, Strome has hit warts but the Rangers are a lot better when he is in the lineup, and we still have not seen a big sample size of Copp playing center.

It's great that the team finally has a SM Manager that cares about getting content out on a consistent basis, especially on non-gamedays. Now, we just need them to broadcast the Prospect Camp, Traverse City, and Training Camp Scrimmages.

NYR always seem to be behind the times with this stuff, but I've seen a noticeable improvement this year.

We should do neither of those things.

Preferably neither, but it's gonna get squeezed in here. No one wants to talk about moving Trouba or Kreider despite @Edge dropping hints it would eventually be on the table.

We will see after the season and how the playoffs shake out. I suspect the roster is not as finished as some people have implied, but I don't see any cap room for changes. Moving Kakko would be insanity.

I would 100% drop Goodrow down. Who plays with Laffy and Chytil? that's debatable... but it will probably be Kakko until he gets back into shape

Kreider Zibs Vatrano
Panarin Strome Copp
Laffy Chytil Kakko
Motte Goodrow Rooney/Hunt/Reaves

that's stacked
This doesn’t make any sense
Laffy,Kakko need goody leadership so they learn how to be pros.
Chattil need a infusion of hockey sense and some grit..
I hate to break it to you but those three have been outplayed by almost everyone accept reeves.

Gallant is not breaking up the top6 as it is. We are playing our best hockey of the season. They are not going on the 4th line. Process of elimination.

I would be VERY hesitant to not retain Vatrano. He fits that Zibanejad line like a glove and he shouldn't be very expensive.

He's a career 35 point winger who just so happens to fit in well with what this team needs and perhaps out-produces his norm playing with Kreider and Zibanejad.
I see him around 2-3years x 3.5M. That'd be my limit. Anything lower, great. Anything higher, best of luck.

Before the playoffs can GG at least experiment a little?
Yes our top 6 is solid...NOW
But slumps happen
Injuries happen
Lets mix it up and see what other possible lines show promise
The kid line hasnt worked and i dont think they will and if we dont have 4 lines playing well we wont win the cup
So if GG has to mix it up the lines in the playoffs he can get an idea of what other combos work
I'd start with 1 superstar and 1 kid on each line. These are 3 legitimate scoring lines.

Laf zib vat
Pan copp kk
Krei stro chy
Goo roo rea/hun

The Rangers have tried to sign Strome. They haven't been able to re-sign him. The Rangers have a number and Strome wants more. Strome is the Rangers self-rental. He is signed for $4.5M. He fits their cap for this season. Strome can get a bigger contract somewhere else.

Which D is replacing Lindgren's minutes for next season?

Will be very interested to see where he ultimately lands. It's hard to imagine a team signing him to a big contract with no fear that he is scoring above his head given his linemates, ice time and having a spot on one of top PP's in the NHL. That said, we see teams hand out bad contracts every year, they never learn.

I could absolutely see him ending up in Detroit or Anaheim. They’ll both have cap room and young locker rooms. He’s constantly talked about in terms of positive voices even when we’ve been struggling.

I totally agree. The Top 6 looks quite formidable with Vatrano and one of Strome/Copp brought back.

Kreider-Mika-Vatrano
Panarin-Copp/Strome-Kakko

Ottawa or Seattle. I dont see a contender giving Strome the contract he's looking for
